mouse
Hello gang carved up another mouse bait. Been wanting to try a soft plastic mouse bait for some green bass here in our local lakes. I still have to do a little prep work on this clay carving before he takes a bath in some silicone. We will see if he gets chewed once completed. Till next time gang.

Huge proto type bait in the works
Hello this crazy idea came to mind about making a huge segmented bait. So I grabbed the clay and got to work. Here is what the ball of clay turned into. I still have to give clean it up a little bit before it take a bath in Silicone but its going to be fun to see if I can get a fish to eat this huge 13.5 inch bait. Till next time gang.

my first mold
I made this just for fun to see if I could do it. I glued layers of acrylic together to make the master. I think it turned out ok for my first go at it. The bait is 7" long and has a decent swimming action on a straight retrieve. When twitched it turns around and swims away from you. Now I just have to learn how to pour without it turning into a bubbly yellow mess.

First Attempt
First attempt at pouring soft baits, when opening the glitter jar a TON jumped out into the mix so its a little heavy on the glitter LOL...neat stuff, I can see having alot of fun with this - that stuff ain't no joke once heated though!

Paddle Tail Shad - Design 3
Took me 3 tries to get a paddle tail on this bait that didn't make me want to puke. I think its still ugly, but atleast its no longer nauseating. I don't know if I am going to cut it or not yet. I have to think about it for a while. Maybe something that offends my sense of aesthetics slightly less will come to me yet. Lots of folks said they wanted to see one with a paddle tail. Here it is.

new bait
Hello gang check this one out. I had an idea about making a mackerel style swimbait so I picked up the clay again the other night and got to work. Added side stripes and mid fins onto one my proto type carvings and this one came to life. The color is a green mackerel and I will be playing with colors to make a blue and spanish mackeral. Let me know what you think. Have a great day.

Working File / Image
Its a combination of files and items to get the total bait mold. A 3D solid, and then scale patterns and fin ray pattersn as lines that are mapped to the surface. Cut the mold from the solid, and ten engrave the mapped lines to get the scale patterns and the rays on the fins. About 4 hours per side to cut everything, and then the pins and screws are done on the drill press.

Shad Attempt 4 1st Shot(b)
I finally finished this mold today. I will need to make a few tweaks before cutting any more of this pattern, but its finally good enough to show. I was making some other baits so I just tried some things with the colors I was already using. The "laminates" turned out much better than I expected. I think with the right choice of colors this bait will not need to be painted. Just add an eyeball and a spot. I had a whole pack of craft eyes for it on my desk... well some of you have seen my desk... LOL.
