Jigs

As you can see in the picture, I used the "Perfect Finesse Worm Rig" to make this swim jig. I re-coated the head with powder paint and added a skirt spreader which is made of the cap that covers the small needle of my insulin pens. I cut off the enclosed end of the cap, then pushed it up onto the hook shank, wedged a tooth pick in it to make it tight then epoxied it. Next I hand tied a skirt and Presto you have a swim jig. The design of the hook acts as a keel and keeps the point up.

First jigs Ive ever poured and made.

Here is somthing for the Glamour boy type bass. It is an 1 1/2 minnow jig head with a little bucktail & flashabou. Oh boy its :flame:.

Jigs, Shakey Heads or Both Not sure whether to call these jigs or shakey heads with skirts. I have been making this thing for a little while now. One of the problems I have with hitchhikers is getting the plastic started and centered on the screw. With this starter stud, that is no longer a problem. Due to the hinged cork screw which has no resistance of its own and collapses when getting bit, I think that this set-up has less interference with a hook set than when using a weed guard, especially when running the hook through the bait and skin hooking it. I first started making these with the cork screw mounted solidly in the jig head but after catching a few fish the cork screw and starter stud got bent and mangled so badly that it was practically useless. So far with this set-up that has not happened. Hope you like it. John

White Blue Swim Jig

1 oz poison tail jig. 5/0 mustad ultra point hook, double red rattles, living rubber and natural scales, 144 strands.

6.5oz megabait-style jigs, cast from wheelweight alloy in a home-made mold. Made with a custom one-piece eyelet wire-form made from 0.065" or 0.076" stainless wire-- extra heavy duty to stand up to a lot of reef-pounding abuse. The jigs are foiled, and then painted. The paint has a pearlescent micro-glitter applied, but its quite difficult to capture in a photo. Eyes are home-made 3-D ultra glow. Clearcoat with Devcon, but the jigs can also be clearcoated by heating (before eyes are glued on!) in an oven to 375* and then clear powdercoated-- works like a charm. my first foil shad. foil sure takes some time if you are doing multiple jigs but sure looks nice. working on some grey cod mimics as well. the clear powder coating is awsome.

Lead jig by Cadman. I did the powder paint, eyes, devcon, skirt, collar, rattle, etc. This head is green pumpkin with black on the top and holographic eyes.

jigs are hand poured and painted with powder paint. the colors are monkey puke (left) burple (to) and firebug (right) the colors are results from experimenting with multiple coats of paint what do ya think?
