finished product- foiled/painted jigs

finished product- foiled/painted jigs

6.5oz megabait-style jigs, cast from wheelweight alloy in a home-made mold. Made with a custom one-piece eyelet wire-form made from 0.065" or 0.076" stainless wire-- extra heavy duty to stand up to a lot of reef-pounding abuse. The jigs are foiled, and then painted. The paint has a pearlescent micro-glitter applied, but its quite difficult to capture in a photo. Eyes are home-made 3-D ultra glow. Clearcoat with Devcon, but the jigs can also be clearcoated by heating (before eyes are glued on!) in an oven to 375* and then clear powdercoated-- works like a charm. Good fishing, and I hope you enjoy the photo!

spinjigs

spinjigs

These spinjigs were designed last year and by using a Dakota Blade it gives the bass something different to look at. When the jig is lifted up and dropped the blade has a real nice gyro to it! Can also be slowly crawled or buzzed beneath the surface.

saltwater synthetic-skirt jigs

saltwater synthetic-skirt jigs

These were poured in the Do-It spearhead mold. Hook is the Mustad stainless 34007 8/0, with a separate .063" stainless eyelet. Dipped in vynil paint, with silver and pearlescent sparkles. Skirt is poly fiber, with holographic vynil outer skirt. They've caught rockfish, lingcod, cabezon, halibut, sharks, albacore, and stripers.

saltwater tough skirts

saltwater tough skirts

4oz Do-It spearhead mold, 8/0 hooks, vinyl paint. These jigs use tough vinyl cord as skirt material, and are bite-proof for our local lingcod and halibut. Overall length is 6-1/2 inches. The vinyl skirts are a little bit stiffer than a nylon skirt, and thus do not get fouled around the hook when deep-dropping them. I often fish these jigs with a 10"+ smelt or mackerel pinned to the hook, or rigged with an 8" twister tail, to keep most of the smaller fish off. Bottom jig has a glow skirt and ultra-glow head.

lingcod- the sharp end

lingcod- the sharp end

Everybody smile for the camera! Nylon-skirted jigs are heap big juju for lingcod. This fish went for a boatride off a Northern California reef.
