6 in. White/Cahrtreuse Pike Fly With Foam Head

6 in. White/Cahrtreuse Pike Fly With Foam Head

I tied this fly yesterday. The epoxy on the head just got done drying. I used straight cut Rabbit Zonkers for the tail, Chartreuse bucktail for the body, and cross cut Rabbit Zonker for under the foam head. The head is 2mm white foam, and the eyes are red sticky holo eyes.

chartreuse synthetic

chartreuse synthetic

I tried something different with this one. I created the body separate using aluminum cut from a pop can, bent over and secured it to the hook with epoxy - then tied on the chartreuse and white synthetic material, epoxied the eyes. For the scale effect I on the body, I used some techniques from the hard bait forum using mesh netting, aluminum tape, and e-tex. This was all done and dried before I tied on any materials.

Deceivers

Deceivers

I used 5-minute epoxy for these. I still have issues with the little air bubbles despite blowing/breathing on them. Epoxy is a hassle, I'm interested trying the product that Loon puts out called Hard Head I believe. I use these flies for pike mostly. I'm also interested in tying bigger flies with the different synthetic materials that are out there. I don't care for the prices of material in the fly shops. If you have found any unique/creative sources for synthetic materials I'd love to hear about it.
