Glitter Chartreuse Shad

When painting this color for the first time, I had a vague idea of what I wanted; namely, a flashy shad pattern. I didn't want to se foil, so I went a different route and went ballistic with glitter. The back is covered with dark blue glitter and the rest of the bait in silver glitter, and in the sunlight it really pops.

Thanks for looking!

Thanks guys!

RayburnGuy, this style has a 2" body length (bill excluded) and weighs 1/2 oz. Dive depth is 2-4' deep, and it really comes through cover well. Casts like a rocket and thumps very nicely on retrieve.

I don't mind sharing anything about how I build my baits. Having someone copy my baits really wouldn't make much difference to me - heck, every single lure out there is based on some other lure or lures, and that includes the ones I build. As far as that goes, this lure is actually styled loosely after the WEC E1.

Thanks for sharing Ben. First thing I noticed was the position of the line tie. Don't think I've ever seen that size square bill with the line tie located on the lip. You definitely started me thinking after seeing your bait.

thanks again,

Ben

Glad to help!

The guys that had me build this lure style specifically requested a tight action. I tried building the bait with the line tie in the nose, but I had to move it to the bill to stabilize the bait and get the action tight enough. It's built without any ballast other than the hook hangers and bill (saves a step or two!), and with the line tie in the nose it was too unstable. Moving the line tie to the lip solved the problem perfectly, and my reject-rate for this lure style is 0%.

I've got some other lure styles that still get about 10-15% rejects, so I think I need to refine my building process with those lures.

Now I'm thinking of making a version of this bait that runs slightly deeper, around 4-6'.
