4" Basswood Bleeding Bluegill

4"- 1 oz. Bleeding Bluegill Swimbait. Handcarved basswood body with Plastruct tail fin. The image (a scientific illustration from Petersons Field Guide) is printed on trace paper and then applied to aluminum foil. Sealed with D2t, then airbrushed and finished off with Envirotex.

I designed the bait to be neutrally bouyant before adding the epoxy finish. Once applied, the bait sinks very slowly at a rate of about 1" per second. A slow retrieve will keep the bait under water and swimming while a fast retrieve will bring the bait to the top for some surface action.
