I am not a machinist. I started with a small hobby CNC mill made by Taig. I never worked as a machinist or apprenticed or had any education in machine work. Over the years I made a few parts the hard way with a grinder and a drill press when nobody had what I wanted, but it was all totally shade tree. Now I feel like I can make most molds passably well. All those pieces in the top two thirds (and more on other shelves) are failed or miscut molds from learning how to do it. I guess all education has a price. This is part of the price of being self taught.

One thing about learning it the hard way Bob is that you don't tend to forget it quite as easily.
