Anatomy of Bad Mold

The baits come out like I wanted (when I get a good one) but this mold is marked bad for a reason.  Its very finicky and difficult to get consistent good pours.  I already figured out two things wrong with the layout, and I plan to recut it soon to see if those cure its problems.

I really like that Bob, it gives the ability to do a double skirt if one would so choose.

I had not even thought of a double skirt.  That's a good idea.  My thought was to make it a really secure bait holder for those guys who want to put a big chunk of plastic under the skirt.  Its even more versatile than I thought.  LOL.

Bob I like the three barbs, it's the first thing my eye was drawn to.

How well does it hold a bait?

It would be interesting to do a pull test with yours and the other guys.

I don't know.  I haven't actually used it for that.  I actually made it to fill a particular fishing niche of my own just as a giant colorado blade spinner bait.  The bait keepers were kind of an after thought based on something else I was working on.

NOOOOOOOO!  If we do a comparison and mine doesn't hold as good I will be forever shamed.  LOL.

I reality it would destroy a small bait, but would probably work pretty good with a big fat bait.  The problem I am having so far is the powder coat is too thick and fills in behind the cones to much.  That's a bait making issue though.  Not a mold making issues.  I need to get some fluid beds setup and see if I can get a lighter coating.  I could always switch to paint instead.

I was thinking fat like a Berkley saltwater 6" grub.  It measures 1/2" dia. between the ID of the ribs and has an awesome ribbon tail.

If it were me I would just powder coat the head, and forget about the barbs as they are covered anyway.
