Pic showing how I fill in the wire slot using strips of cedar. They are cut to fit tight against the wire and epoxied into place.  The ballast weight holes are filled with epoxy putty.

Love it.  I've started filling the slot on my lures using this method.  Works so much better than filling the entire slot with epoxy! Neater and stronger probably.  How do you cut thin strips like that? What works well?

Thanks eastman. I cut the strips with a table saw, and lightly sand them to desired thickness .  They are made to fit fairly tight, and get epoxied in with Devcon 2-ton. This method is very durable.  It also helps eliminate cracks or separation that can occur from using other fillers that don't expand and contract like wood does.
