Bluegill

This is my first attempt. This is carved out of poplar and is 6 1/2" in length. She looks kind of pretty but I still need a lot of work as far as practicality. Good learning event nonetheless.

That's a great first try! My first try was so bad I couldn't get it to leave the garage! lolhuh.gif

I've had trouble getting a two piece lure to swim well, so I usually use them as twitch/jerkbaits to simulate struggling fish.

If you can, you might want to play around with the length of the tail.

I find that, sometimes, too long a tail will dampen swimming action. When I tie a feather/mylar treble for a topwater, I usually wind up trimming it on the water a little at a time until I get the action I want.
