Trying to copy Hazmail's style ...

Trying to copy Hazmail

... with a bit of a different personality (or drawback?:?) 62 mm long, light wood, photofinish (played around with Photoshop). They are very stable in action. But there's something I cannot understand. I tried many lip shapes before choosing the ones you see, the distance between the lip and the tow point is different (at least to one of them), 2 of them have the weight in front of the belly hanger and the third has it after the belly hook hanger. But nevertheless they all behave the same in water, which is a very large and quick action, giving me the impression of a snake on the run. I wonder if this is the way they should behave? I made the angle of a lipslot as I usually do in my crankbaits, and only after did I realize that because of the shape (head bent a little downwards) the angle of the lip would be larger as against the surface of the water. Trying to correct this, 2 of them have a lip bent upwards, but it was in vain, all 3 of them would have a very large "wobble". But I know what I will be using this shape for: I will attach bb rattles towards the head or tail. They should work perfectly :)

Those look really good rofish! I bet the yellow one at the bottom has some pretty crazy action to it. Jacob

Great looking lures and nice work! However, their's only one PETE! Trying to copy him is like trying to be as Cool as THE FONZ from HAPPY DAYS! Their's only one Fonz and Only 1 PETE! The Rookie
Rookie ... I'm perfectly aware of that ... But if I can get any close with my work to the one of a sacred luremaker, I will be happy ... Besides, this lure shape wouldn't give me peace before I tried it...

I know rofish.. in no means was trying to put down your verison in anyway with my comments and I hope I didnt offend you with them because that was not my purpose. I was only expressing how much I look up to Pete's work too! I think if we had a vote on who is our favorite TU member was by all members... not that we need to do this sort of thing.. but if we did Im willing to bet Pete would be at the top of list as the most respected. Im sure Pete will be the first to say great job too and even help you copy them. He is that great a person! The Rookie
No copy , .........just a style of it's own ! Really nice patterns ! great job , ......greetz :yay:, diemai
I think is only about inspiration and building a lure on your own style! can't see in your lure the design, shape, lips of Pete's lure. So now you have 3 lures that others will use them as a source of inspiration ; congratulations
