Painter1 Posted November 7, 2013 Report Share Posted November 7, 2013 I have cut out and glued together a prototype creature bait that I would like to try in a few colors. It has some fine appendages so it will need to be injected. Is this something I should do with RTV silicone? I will probably want to make several of the same molds. Kajan Posted November 7, 2013 Report Share Posted November 7, 2013 Well, I don't make any injection rtv molds, but I am always a fan of using RTV. With dat said, get the harder RTV. I think the harder ones run in the 130+ shore range. But I would recommend hand carving the prototype out of something you can reuse and finish with a very high sheen. gone2long Posted November 7, 2013 Report Share Posted November 7, 2013 polymeric clay (sculpy) works well and as far as injecting RTV that sounds scary why not use fiberglass resin?
