Making An Injectable Mold

Recommended Posts

I have cut out and glued together a prototype creature bait that I would like to try in a few colors.  It has some fine appendages so it will need to be injected.

Is this something I should do with RTV silicone?

I will probably want to make several of the same molds.

As always, your help is appreciated.

Well, I don't make any injection rtv molds, but I am always a fan of using RTV. With dat said, get the harder RTV.  I think the harder ones run in the 130+ shore range. But I would recommend hand carving the prototype out of something you can reuse and finish with a very high sheen. I have used different materials, but cypress works well to carve and you coat with devcon 2 ton epoxy.
