Flat Sided Crankbait Blank?

Recommended Posts

What stretcher said.  That flat sided coffin bill at bustin bass baits is an excellent blank.  I think there is the same lure on ebay called evergreen combat crankbait but bustin bass has a better price anyway.  I paint and fish these one of my favorite lures.  Weight transfer helps casting distance.  Lively erratic action, and comes thru the weeds here in the Cal Delta.

Same bait...it is sold by bustinbassbaits on eBay....sometimes he only sells some of his baits on eBay...he will list baits there that he does not have on his website

I got a bunch of Flat Sided Coffins on Alibaba.com  The manufacturer is named Lianyungang Fine Fishing Tackle Co., Ltd.  His name is Hill Sun.  Email him at yzwonder@aliyun.com.  You may have to buy a minimum of 100-200 pieces but the price is right.. I believe around .98c/each plus shipping.

I've bought them from BustinBass and WLure.  I've caught fish on both, and they are both of good quality.  The one from BB is made of a cloudier colored plastic, that produces a quieter rattle.  The WLure version is very clear and louder.  The line tie anchor on the BB version is shorter.  It can be a bit harder to tune, just because there is less to grab and get leverage on.  I've sometimes found the line tie anchor to be somewhat loose on my baits from both sources, making them impossible to tune.  As a precaution, I always add a small drop of epoxy around it, and that seems to work fine.  If you dip coat the entire bait in urethane, that should serve the same purpose.  I'd recommend both of these sources for the combat flatside.

I just recently received an order of these from Bustin Bass Baits and it was not the same version.  I really like the cloudier plastic one that was sold by BB on their site and on ebay as evergreen combat flat side.  This one has two weights in the weight transfer chamber and sideways hook hangars.  The weights in them are larger also and overall quality of the plastic is better also.  The ones supplied on this recent order are the clearer plastic.  There is one weight in the transfer chamber and one as just a rattle.  Both weights are smaller, the line ties are in line with the bait seam, and the plastic is not as well done.  Not nearly the quality bait.

They promptly refunded my purchase and I am sending them back.  I hope BB can get more of the combat style ones in the future.  One of my favorite baits.  The other one is alibaba style cheaper version.  Seams are not always fully glued, weights are small and with only one in the transfer chamber it doesn't cast as well.  Two out of ten in my order, the weight transfer weight is stuck in the chamber.

Frustrating.
