Alumidust And Pouring Lead?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone tried Alumidust in metal lead molds like a Do-it Minnow Head mold?  What kind of luck or is the lead just to hot?

probably not as you would like it.  Alumisol (plastisol) is clear, so the colors of alumidust show through even if

submerged.

Lead is not clear, so no go.  Also alumidust is basically colored micas.  Some colors may be stable at high

temperatures, some may not be.

A solution would be to mix alumidust with etex and paint it on. Or, cover jig with etex, wait couple hours until it is

tacky dry and sprinkle or brush it on.  In both cases, prime jig with white first.

Colored micas are used in casting sculptures, ladies make-up.
