Flat Rubber Available

Recommended Posts

I purchased the "Flatline Rubber" when it was first released. Sadly it was not what I expected.

What did you expect? The round rubber is called "living rubber", the flat is now "flatline rubber". There is a lot of confusion with both these materials, especially from the younger anglers that weren't around when this stuff was the only material. I had a guy insist on rubber skirting, and then a few months go by  and he is complaining that the skirt melted and clumped together, and of course I agreed. It turned out he wanted silicone, he didn't know there was two type and all he heard was guys talking about how good rubber skirts are. Rubber is good and has a lot of action but if you store it for long periods, it should be placed in a bag with unscented talc to keep it from sticking together. The flat line rubber I have is almost identical to the rubber that was around in the 80s, the difference is the old stuff came in a roll and you had to pull the individual strands off, now they have it in pre made tabs, it seems easier to me.
