Looking For A 4" Tube Mold

Recommended Posts

Hey all......first time posting in here. I have been lurking for about a year. Lot's of good info in here. I started pouring/injecting my own soft plastics about two years ago.....it's addicting!!! lol

I am looking for a tube mold.....I am unsure on what to get at this point. I am looking for a 4" tube similar to the 4" Big Boy tube that Mizmo sells. I don't think I am really into cutting the tails so I'd be looking for something with inserts. I'd like to get more than just a single cavity mold. The closest thing I have seen yet has been on Del Mart and I would heed the warning about not buying from Del directly. So if anyone has a lead on something close to what I have described....please let me know!!! Thanks!

Del's mold requires you to cut the tails. only molds you don't have to are from Ultra Molds and DoIt. I have used these molds and didn't like them, I was after a tube that is as close to a dipped tube (same as mizmo's) but injected and I landed on Angling AI's molds, yes you have to cut the tails but you won't get a tube that is close without cutting the tails. The tube molds from Angling AI are full multi cavity injection and are the best shooting tube molds I have seen yet, from soft to hard compounds and no salt to LOADED with salt they shoot perfect every time.

I built mine similar to the top option. I know they both work well. The one from lurecraft is probably more of a quialitty product, but I cut a lot of tubes on mine with no problems and good consistancy. When you have the right tool, cutting tails and using injection molds is a really good option. You can cut a BIG pile of tubes in no time, if you have either one of these. Of course there are tips and tricks you will learn along the way to make your process work for you.

Well I tried to talk BT into making me a tube mold....no dice. lol

Dave....do you use a tube splitter of some sort to cut the tubes from the Angling AI's molds? I checked on Lurecraft and see that they have one in a press and one without a press.

I have Lure Craft's press, I had the block that the blades are held in opened a little wider and some extra spacers and blades added. went from i think 11 blades to 16. other than that its the same press they sell. Like I have told many others, once you find that rhythm when cutting the tails you should have no issues cutting 350 - 500 in an hr. and they will come out just fine. just a tip, the more salt you add to the plastic the easier it is to cut and of course lube the tail section of the tube with worm oil, about every 4th tube will be good.

Dave,

Can you angle the cutting head a little so it slices instead of chopping?

Angling AI tube mold is the best, shoots really well and very consistent product. I used to dip my tubes and it worked pretty well but  much better product with injecting I have 3.5 mold and the cutter block that I adapted to a drill press works well and I can remove the base and block and drill things with it
