RSNeely
Is there a video somewhere that shows how to do a finesse tie on a ball head jigs? Maybe I'm just over looking it.
smalljaw
A finesse tie is the same as any other, the only difference is you aren't leaving strands long enough to fold over. I tie them leaving the top a little long as you are going to trim both top and bottom anyway. I always get asked about the spider cut or crop top skirts on finesse jigs, it seems a lot don't know why the skirt is made that way but tying is no different, in fact it is easier as nothing is in the way. BTW, the reason for the cropped skirt is 2-fold, the first reason is the look, it is supposed to mimic a crawdad's tail, the second is the rate of fall, if you put a 40 strand skirt on a 5/16oz jig, the crop top grabs the water and slows it down kind of like a parachute.
