Durham's Putty...FYI, questions, rambling.

Recommended Posts

I've been going everywhere to find the Durhams everyone is recommending. Lowe's (2 of them) and Home Depot in this area said they are not carrying it anymore, they have replaced it with another putty made by the same company that does Plaster of Paris (didn't know if this would turn out the same therefore I kept on looking for Durhams). I finally found some in a Ma & Pa hardware store. So, now I'm ready to jump in, got my clay (for making new inventions), Plaster of Paris, and some Durhams. Made my 1st mold of jig trailers with the P.O.P. last night so I'll know this evening how they came out. I'm glad I finally got enough courage and info (from this site) to make the plunge!! Question...can you pour Durhams into plastic containers for mold making or does it have to be metal?

Lowes carries the DAP equivalent of Durhams, works just as good, I think better it seems to cure quicker. Durhams seems to hold water for days where as the DAP wood putty doesn't so far both have held up for me the same length of time. Durhams is carried by the Ace Hardware around here.
