Favorite Winter Colors?

Recommended Posts

I was just wondering what everyone's favorite colors were for wintertime. I'd like to add a little more variety and productivity to the arsenal for the cold months. We all know this is when the biggest fish are caught, a few new weapons in the war would be cool! Let's say five favorite colors?

Mine are:

  • 1: Green Pumpkin Pepper
    2: Junebug/Blue laminate
3: Black w/ blue tail (Old School!)
4: Reverse Weenie (moss green w/ black flake over dark brown)
5: Chocolate and Blue Neon laminate

Thanks for contributing!!! B)

1) Black - chartreuse tail (or any dark color with a char. tail)

2) Green chocolate (brown - green hi-lite and tons of black flake)

3) Brown - orange vein/tail

4) Crayfish - red & black flake (or red vein)

5) Avocado -red flake / brown belly

For me, anything dark for dropshotting works best unless I'm fishing in a heavy crawfish population. Then I'll go with no. 3 or 4. Any shad waters and I like to use a little red, perhaps because it imitates a dead/dying baitfish?

I don't fish much in the cold anymore, but have caught some really nice fish during the winter.

We have some extremely deep lakes here and it's not uncommon for us to catch fish in 70 to 90 feet of water this time of year.

OK....my favorite winter color is a white spinner bait with gold willow..but on to plastic:

1. Black

2. Watermelon Candy

3. Watermelon/Green Pumpkin laminate

4. Methiolate (believe it or not, great winter bait for me)

5. Silver shiner (clear plastic w/ silver, black, little blue glitter)

If its sunny, the silver shiner bangs them...sometimes even gets a few crappie (speckled perch to some:?:). Cloudy or partly cloud..black or watermelon. If nothings going on, I go to the methiolate, pink/yellow or bubble gum colors...
