Ever have this happen when heating???

Recommended Posts

Poured a big pile of baits yesterday and about halfway through I was switching colors for the hundreth time (it seemed). I washed my pyrex cup, dryed it and added some plastic. Cooked it about 1 minute 30 seconds and took it out to add color and flake. As I'm taking the cup out I'm watching the plastic trun golden brown from the outside in???

I took the plastic out after it cooled, washed, dried and added plastic again. Cooked for about 1 minute 30 seconds, took it out, added color and flake, mixed and carried on...no brown???

Did I leave detergent residue??? Only happened that one time..

Jim

PS Also bought a 1.25 gallon slim water container (for your fridge) from wally world and put my plastic in it with a funnel. Goodbye gallon bucket. It has a nice handle and spigot for dispensing. You can mix great in it and see that there is no residue. Best few $$$ I've spent yet!!! Just be sure to mark it well with caution stuff (don't want the wife drinking plastic  ) and don't put it in the fridge.

I would check that plastic bottle after a little while to be sure it is o.k. the only reason I say this is because I was using a plastic cup to scoop the plastic out of the bucket and then pour in my pot to cook, we'll whatever was left in the cup sat in there for a day or two, and the next time I picked it up the bottom fell out of it, The plastic ate right through it, I guess there was some kind of chemical reaction between the two plastics???:huh:

Figured it out, mystery solved!!!! It happened again but this time I noticed the brown starting in just one spot in the plastic by the inside of the pyrex. As I was adding my Kick'n Bass, I must have gotten some on the pyrex cup as there was a little drop of it flowing into the plastic.

I guess the Kick'n Bass does OK in the plastic but doesn't do to well directly on the glass as I'm sure the glass is much hotter than the plastic!!

PS My plastic container has not leaked or fallen apart (YET)..I have it in a pan just in case. I really want that container to work because it is so darn easy to dispense out of.. We'll see!!!!
