Party Crasher
Yes, I have one too. They come up on E-bay on a pretty regular basis if you watch for them. I think you would be happy with the Do-It style F or M that are available. My favorite is the old Erie Head weight forward which is also discontinued, but always coming up on E-bay. It fouls while casting less than any other I have used.
Party Crasher
I just looked and there is one of those stand-up type Erie Head weight forward molds on E-bay right now if you are interested. Search "Do-It Mold".
WidowMaker
Do you mean outlawed or out of production???
Richoc
Both....... They patented thier lure and forced the recall of all unsold do-it molds of those models. The retail sale of these baits is all a ?. They are not exact, not even near, but basically the head shape is the same "W" lead body, on a wire shaft. They will do the same job just fine. Cummins_4x4
Just won an Ebay auction. Item number: 7152830038 Is this close to the one you have Richoc? I still need those made. If you can send me a list of components I need to finish them I would appreciate it. I'll be heading north walleye fishing pretty soon. Although I use these baits here in Tx alot. Richoc
Which sizes did you get. Looked it up.... You got a good price You need .030/.031 looped wire, 4" to what you want. #2 or #3 clevises. 4mm beads, colors are your choice. Some extra wire .030 wire for making the leader parts. Hook is up to you. Now each head size can use a differnt blade size, so that is a hard call. Larger with heavyer. Market sizes are #3 thru #5 french. But most any style will work. Hope this helps. Have most of this stuff on hand, if you want some sent along with the heads, let me know . E-mail.
Metz
Yeah, I was watching that item but the auction was done when I was not able to be on a PC. That was a good deal. I have put some WFS together in the past and have used beads up to 6mm. Try to find some faceted glass ones - they seem to give off more flash to me. One thing I haven't really been able to figure out though: Is that 3" wire leader necessary on the front? I can't think of why it MUST be on the lure. Wouldn't it function just the same without it? Metz
Sorry, forgot to add my other question... Does anyone know how to put a nice professional looking loop with a barrel wrap into the wire at the hook end of a WFS? I have the Qwik-Twist tool for other loops but can't get it locked onto the wire at the hook end because of the blades and beads. I've done the large-loop style that you can see on the Do-It F style mold picture but I really like the look of the barrel wrapped loop. I've been thinking of round nose pliers or making some type of custom tool to do it. Anyone have any simple ideas or suggestions to help me out? Thanks in advance. Richoc
Front wire is to take the abuse of rocks and such. Line would get cut clean off. Erie walleyes suck the entire rig , head thru tail. Teeth cut thru the line like a razor blade.
Party Crasher
That 3" wire in the front of the head also keep the lure from fouling around the line during the cast or while it is sinking. Try making one without the leader. It will foul on about 2/3 of the casts.
