nova Posted November 3, 2005 Report Share Posted November 3, 2005 Try to get your hands on some small (hobby) dead electric motors. The ones that are about as big as a pecan. Take it apart and unwind the wire from the motor. it will be a fine copper wire with a laquer finish on it. You should get yards of the stuff. I used to use this stuff when I was tying flys. Elken Posted November 4, 2005 Report Share Posted November 4, 2005 I was wandering throught a local craft store after picking up some rod building supplies and found some spools of thin wire with some sort of green coating on it. The wire is used to tie bundles of plants or flowers together and is called florist wire. I have used it to tie skirts on jigs for most of the summer and haven't had any issues with it yet. Made by Williams and called Duro-Lus, it came on a spool of 500 ft and even with that amount it still fits nice with a large fly tying bobbin.
