Wire former?

Recommended Posts

I have both Boggs & Hagens, I also have the Lil`Blue Bender. They each have there own plus`s. The blue bender is the cheapest. It is mainly personal preferance. The blue bender does least amount of bending,(like wrapping loops in the wire doesn`t work using this type.) But is the easyist to use bending wire. I use it to bend all my spinnerbait forms. I use the other two to make inline spinners & wire wrapings.

Doolittle, Netcraft carries the Little Blue Bender but it is only good for wire up to .041. You're in the same boat I am. The Boggs tool is priced cheaper than the Hagens. Netcraft carries the Hagans and Stamina carries the Boggs. The Hagans requires an extra kit to bend .051 wire.

Davycrockett: I have two thoughts on this. There is a website at www. luremaking.com, where you can find preformed wireforms that are used for Musky and Pike spinnerbaits. You might find it helpfull. It seems to me that the Little Blue bender could be modified to handle heavier wire. The two bending pins are mounted in the head of a large (1/2") flat head machine screw. Why could one not make another of these from another screw and use pins further apart? It would require acccess to a drill press to drill the holes in the screw head and some hardened pins. It would be worth a try. The other option is to try heavier wire in the Little Blue bender and see what happens.
