icemanrrc
I am new to the lure making thing. I can't seem to keep the spinnerbait skirts from sticking together while in the water. I have tried several different silicone skirt material from Barlow's, Jann's, Stamina etc with no change. What's the secret for keeping the skirt material from sticking together? smalljaw
I make my own skirts for spinnerbaits from silicone from the same suppliers and have never had this problem but you may want to try a can of real magic, I spray my skirts with it to keep them limp when they aren't going to be used in awhile. icemanrrc
I thought I should clarify a little more on the problem. The skirt looks great on the bait out of water, but when I am fishing it, it doesn't look like it's breathing. It looks like a clump of crap coming through the water. I have cut some of the skirt out thinking maybe I was using too much skirt material (two strands), but it didn't make a difference.
nova
The water causes the skirt to lay down because of the resistance of the water. If you vary the speed of you retrieve the skirts should pulse as the resistance of the water lessens.
basskat
Make sure one end of the skirt is a little longer than the other. Put the longer end on top. This will help make it flare and pulse more. You can buy a little cone (can't remember the name) that goes on after the skirt that makes it flare out. I think Z-Man or Stamina carries it. piddler
silicone won't move in the water as much as the older style latex rubber skirts.
