  4. How much floater to add to frogs?

What do you Guys think about micro glass balloons as floating additive? I bought a can of them a lot of time ago, when I poured cranks in epoxy resin, but I have never tried them in plastisol. If I am not wrong, in past I read something here in TU about their use, but I really don't know the correct amount. I'm just just planning, as Bowldsie, to pour some floating Frogs for next Spring and any help could be really appreciated. PS: I already know that micro glass balloons are terrible for our respiratory system, so mask is a must. Bye Cami
  5. Exhaust fan over lead pot question

Guys I really appreciate the feedback! Looks like I have another build to do!
  6. Exhaust fan over lead pot question

Solid set up there^ I have something very similar I use an attic vent (all metal) built a box over it in my attic that vents directly outside connected 12 duct to that and have a boxed in hood vent . I use it for lead/plastics. Very similar

  8. Ultra minnow spinnerbait mold

As mentioned, I ladle pour this mold making sure I keep the mold, ladle and soft lead hot for good flow. By the way, this mold makes a great chatter bait using the wire coming off the head to attach to the blade.
  9. Do-It Molds WEY375 Wire forms

Given the price difference I thought it was worth the trouble. Plus if you ever hang the blade on something you will more than likely get loose without loosing the blade.
  10. How much floater to add to frogs?

Joelhains how much do you add per cup? That was my plan, to just pour the belly

    Excellent

You can also try increasing the flow on the pot. I heat mu hook and wire by laying them in the mold and waving a micro torch over them for a few seconds, close the mold and pour.
  13. How much floater to add to frogs?

I shoot the caney creek croaker mold and have found I can pour plastic with a floating additive in just the belly of the frog and it will be buoyant enough to float a 4/0 hook
  14. PVC.... Azek or Choice Dek?

Killntime.. so, I presume you do NOT use threaded eyehooks? I thought I'd buy some, but if twisted ties are the best, I'll try that. thanks

Love those Goose Biots you get from the primary feathers! Best part of a goose.
  20. Ultra minnow spinnerbait mold

You might try adding a spacer in the mold to open it up a little to provide more venting. I stick a piece of masking tape on one of the contact surfaces for this.
  21. Do-It Molds WEY375 Wire forms

I'm gonna try to cut these forms and see if they'll work for me. I'l try a circular bend to hold it in the head better.
  22. Jig Hanging Rack For Curing

When I used a toaster oven with small opening, I flipped the oven upside down and used the rack that came with it. Worked great for the smaller jigs. Found very large opening toaster ovens at yard sale, they do up to my 8 oz. jigs on down just fine. Some of my jigs just have the brass eye, I use some old size 1 to 1/0 jig hooks to hang them with in the oven. The hook eye helps keep the jig on it.
  23. Ultra minnow spinnerbait mold

Yes, you will want to ladle pour those heads. Your not the first to struggle with that mold, I'm pretty sure we all have. 1 You'll want to make sure you stir your lead to remove all of the impurities you can (flux it, if you're into that). 2 I usually pre heat my mold by laying it on the pot while my lead is melting, but that is not enough. I also make several pours without the hook/wire in the mold to make sure it is good and hot (I repeat this every time I get a bad pour). Seems like there is a pretty big learning curve to that mold and once you figure it out, it gets easier to use. Good luck!
  24. Canada spinnerbait help

I have to agree with Jeff, the vibrating jig is my best selling lure. I build mine in an underspin for added flash and lift. Make sure you use the larger blade and build them in 3/4 to 1 1/2oz. The heavier the head, the faster you can burn it and the larger the hook you can use.

That style will still get loose in the head . Needs to just be an elongated S hook.
