  2. Who's making a good injector now?

10oz. should be enough to fill it. We have some 20 cavity 8" worm custom bookshelf molds & it takes around 13-14oz. to fill. Don't know the diameter of the worms your shooting but it shouldn't take much over 1/2 of what it takes to shoot 20 8" worms.

  6. Tackle Show Opinions

To be honest, I have wondered about a group of niche builders getting together and starting a web site to sell their baits. The cost of the web site is minimal, and if responses and reviews were not allowed a moderator would not be needed, so ........ Just brain storming. Just thinking with my fingers.
  7. spinnerbait blades

Hawg Hooker, PM me your contact info and we'll figure out what you've got and how to make it right. Excluding Hildebrandt, we don't carry any willow blades that run $66/50 count. -Matt Barlow
  15. spinnerbait blades

Barlow's sells blades from Worth and Hagen's. Did Worth do away with the $1 per line charge for less than minimum quantity?

  18. Tackle Show Opinions

The nature of these shows has changed over the years. It used to be there were tons of vendors with lots of products to sell, and even some outfits that had booths selling discount products and seconds. These shows were the only game in town, and people flocked to them to see the latest and greatest. I looked forward to the Anglers Marine Bass-A-Thon in Anaheim, CA, every year, because I knew there'd be lots of new stuff, and pros to talk and give demonstrations. But Anglers stopped having their show last year, for the first time in 20+ years. I know it was a labor of love for Rick Grover, the owner, so it had to stop making financial sense for him to stop doing it. With computers and the internet, people can go online and find just about anything they need/want, and that has cut way down on the number of vendors at shows. No more little guys. If you aren't a big outfit, with an advertising budget. it's just too expensive for a little guy who is a niche builder.
  19. Who's making a good injector now?

Ya, not just the cavity, but the sprue or runner volume to the cavity(s). Many of us have though that the 4 oz is plenty, and it may be, because our bait is 1/8 oz. But, if you have 6 baits in the mold, that is 1.5 oz and if the runner takes 4 oz you don't have enough. Better too big then too small.
  20. For some reason, that one seems high. I see that the Kingsley Howard was 250 *F. Still, I did see that some of the China ones are that high. Worth trying it. it looks like the thin foils range from the Heat Stamp, Clay foils and Art Deco. I know the Art Deco will work, and expect the Clay foils must work. I think that is what we are all doing, and I agree. Still wondering about this, but, for the slab jigs, I think your method is awesome.
  21. Crankbait Blank Suppliers

Don't forget about Jannsnetcraft. They have been around since the 40's. Limited on blanks but the ones they have are good, They also sell balsa blanks.
  22. If you read that entire thread you will see I found a way that works for lead jigs and does not require a heat press. A woodworkers vice, some carpet remnants and a plumbers torch. Not exactly another machine. Now the binder I use would not work on plastics as it requires heating to 325*f to work once it is applied. I don't really use plastic lures much if at all so that isn't a biggie for me. I have had people tell me they have had luck using the same foil as me and some Super 77 spray adhesive. But I haven't personally tried it. It is very very thin so should work well for that though. I think the wood workers vise was $22 the foil is fairly cheap at roughly $4 for a roll 3" x 100' with lots of color and pattern options. I would have to look again to remember the adhesive price but I think it was $35 for enough for many hundreds of jigs. As I recall I had enough materials to do hundreds of jigs all told for around $70 including the vice which was a one time purchase. Just throwing another method out there that works great for me and didn't cost me too much $ overall.
  23. Who's making a good injector now?

Ditto on the locking head. Also, get one large enough for your mold shots.
  24. I saw a video of someone hot pressing plastic baits, i'll see if I can dig it out of my FB feed(Brotherhood of custome crankbait painting). I think the machines purpose was for stamping cards, the press time was something like 10 seconds. I did a look around alibaba and a machine is not that expensive. But as a hobbyist it's over kill especially since the various glue methods do work. And if I was going to get another tool/toy any time soon it's going to be a 3d printer. The 3m Super 90 should just be a stronger 77 though maybe its thicker
  25. spinnerbait blades

$66.00 for 50 size 4 willow leaf blades sounds like you purchased Hildebrandt blades. I've used Worth blades exclusively for close to 15 years and never got one with even a blemish. Hildebrandt blades have the best finish and the brass seems a little thin which is why they spin so well but I'm not sure what you have. I'd love to see a picture of your blades, since they are all the same I'm guessing it is the design of the blade and I'm not sure what blade would have that.
  26. spinnerbait blades

Might be worth a call to Barlow’s to figure out what you have. Worths QC is top notch. I’ve recieved nothing short of quality blades from them.
  27. spinnerbait blades

Makes sense! My mistake...the blades were actually from Barlows. Kind of my Fault i bought 50 and all of them are sunken in slightly on the edge. I probably should try and return them to Barlows. Spent$66.00 on a Qty. of 50. If Small jaw is correct these are Worth spinner blades...Does not seem to be the quality you would expect from Worth.
