Glass Rattles

Recommended Posts

Boy do I!!! depending on the length of the rattles....If your lure is thicker(wider) than the rattles are long..what I'm about to describe will work great.

Before you begin shaping your lure(tapering it) lay the lure flat on its side.Pick a location for your rattle that won't interfear with the placement of your eye screws. Now drill a 1/4" hole all the way through your bait at this location. Now cut two thin sections of 1/4" hard wood dowel to use as plugs. Finish rough shaping your lure. When complete with the shapeing, push one of the plugs in one side of the lure(you want the plugs to be flush with the out side of the lure). Now flip the lure over, slide in the rattle, and push in the other plug.Add a little wood filler in any gaps, and sand smooth.

If all went well, the rattle should rock back and fourth in the cavity giving you a two tone sound....the sound of the glass hitting the plugs, and the sound of the bb's hitting the glass...Nathan
