Stainless Steel Wire Forms Strength

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

Looking at the stainless steel bulk wire used to make spinnerbait forms, etc. Can someone comment on whether the .062 diameter would be sufficient as hinge pins in joints on large swimbaits? I'm seeing vague ratings at 460lbs breaking strength? That seems like it would be sufficient but will the flex cause it to bend.

Any comments or suggestions appreciated.

Mark Poulson suggested the use of stainless bicycle spokes and I think he got the idea from Capt. Sully. I tried them and they work great. Find an old or wrecked bicycle and you can get enough spokes to build swimbaits until your eyes pop out.
