savacs
What do you use other than epoxy for youre top coats? Heard something about Polyurethane ore something like that? Or propionate? Not so sure
Spinner
I have used polyurethane on baits for a couple of years. It is very easy to work with, simply dip the lures for several light coats. I generally hang my lures to dry, so I would dip them 4-5 times head first, then dip again 4-5 times tail first to try and create an even coating over time. It is much harder to build up on protection on edges of baits like around the head of a popper. I would see wear quite rapidly, then leakage into the wood and ruining the paint job. On minnow baits it worked well. If you're going after toothy critters, you may want to use the epoxy products. That is what I am now using for musky/pike baits. Smaller bass baits I still sometimes use the poly, more out of laziness than anything else. Hope this helps. Spinner
Windknot
Savacs, here's a product I found for ya..I believe the company is out of Canada. I've only used epoxy on the few baits I have made (sprayed Krylon clear..with disaterous results ) anyhow, Hope it helps..I think you might want to build a drying wheel regardless of what you go with. http://www.luremaking.com/catalogue/catalogue-index/catalogue-items/paints/clear_coat_sealer.htm
savacs
What is that crysta clear? It saounds interesting, and easyer to use than epoxy, but you have no other info on it, onl that it'll create a high closs finish, and that it'll cure in 72 hours, and that's about it. I usually make asp lures(no teeth), and couldn't find a product easyer to use than epoxy
