DREWSKI222
What are the differences between 302,303,304,302/304,316,316/316L,410 and 430 stainless steel wire. Are some types better than others?I am looking for a wire to use on big muskie baits that is strong, wont rust, and is not too easy but not too had to work with(bend or twist)I will be using .062 up to .076 in gauge.Any help is very appreciated. LedHed
302/304 ? most popular, excellent corrosion resistance, Tinsel Strength (TS) 75,000-355,000 psi 303 ? has sulfur added to facilitate cutting and bending, TS 95,000-135,000 psi 316/316L ? More corrosion resistant than 302/304, TS for 316 is 100K-140K and TS for 316L is 185K-265K 410 ? is heat treatable, TS is 70K 430 ? not that different from 410 302/304 is probably the cheapest and more applicable for what you are trying to do. The thicker the diameter the harder it will be to bend. I use .051 302/304 for saltwater.
