  1. When making your mold has anyone ever used wax for one half of the mold instead of clay. If it works then all you have to do is melt out the wax and I hope to have a cleaner seam of the lure. What do you think or am I just "CRAZY" RAVEN

  2. Well to start with I really think it is faster with clay. waiting for wax to harden so I can place lure in it to stay in, just as it is still soft to push lure in it. I really think I an "CRAZY" Wayne

  3. I push the keeper back into the plastic enough to cover it, and that's more weedless. Just push the hook point a little deeper into the bait before you expose it, so there's enough plastic to cover the keeper barb. Using a punch skirt will also help keep the bait more weedless, and be sure to peg your sinker tight to either the top of the bait, or the punch skirt.

  4. You could just go to a Home Depot lowes or harbor freight and get one too. No shipping and if it don't work return it. About 25 dollars should get you there. And you won't pull your hair out every time you pour.

  6. I found that I was able to control how my plastic poured very easily, once I got a digital infra red thermometer like on BaitJunky's site. Being able to know what the plastic temp is before you pour/shoot lets you vary the temp to get different molds to shoot better. I do laminates by filling one half of the body in one side of the open mold with one color by hand, and then closing the mold and shooting the second color. I found I need to shoot at 335-340 to get the second color to go past the first and fill the claws, and to really bond with the first. I could never have done that without the digital thermometer. Like Apdriver said, just be sure to stir the plastic before you take the temp, because it will be hotter in the middle than on the surface.

  7. For The Hobbist 1. Make your own packaging with thermoform plastic sheets. 2. This system can also be used to make molds masks for painting lures. http://www.widgetworksunlimited.com/Vacuum_Formers_s/35.htm

  8. Buy the Bass Tackle version. Lock pins, well made, "standard capacity". Cheap ones have thin walls, friction fit. Pain in the @#% to usee. You get what you pay for!
