  1. For a rattle can silver or gold, Rustoleum 2x coverage silver and gold work well. It can even be decanted into an airbrush by spraying it through a tube. But I hate the laquer and drying time. I started using Wicked metallic gold pearl. I love it. I havent tried the silver yet - but I will. There are many self adhesive films out there. But you can get mylar wrapping paper (the kind without the paper backing) at Michaels. You can get gold, silver, and holographic clear. You can heat shrink it to some extent to a lure body using a vacuu form and heat gun. Then it can be applied to a lure blank with epoxy. Personally I find the pure metallic shine of the gold and silver to be too flashy. The clear seems more useful to me.

  3. From reading this I gather that you want the entire bait to weigh 1/2 oz. So you have to make up the body of the lure and weigh that along with the hook hangers, hooks, and all split rings. Then see what kind of weight that you have left to play with. What I mean is, if your body and all of your parts come up to 1/4 oz, then you have 1/4 oz. left to play with for the ballast weight of your bait. No knowing what you are making is kind of tough. Some baits, such as jerkbaits, can have more than one weight. Personally, I would make the bait and get it to work properly, and then worry about the overall weight of the bait. Skeeter

  4. Certain patterns - like "purple tiger" or "Purple clown" require a UV white base.

  5. The Createx colors and base are not glow in dark, but fluorescent. The glow base, when mixed with any color, turns that color fluorescent. Every glow in the dark paint or powder that I know of also fluoresces when hit by uv light. Go ahead and try it if you dont believe me. The really good GID particles (like rayburn guy mentioned) are too coarse to go through an airbrush. Colored powders can be mixed in epoxy and applied over a white, flo white, or flo colored base. Even when they stop glowing on their own, they continue to light up under the UV that penetrates snow, ice, and water.

  6. This site has some more info, like the stuff can be used in an airbrush! "This new product allows you to powder coat nontraditional substrates such as wood, plastic, ceramics, foam, etc. Using this product, you can also easily apply graphics and other custom designs or artwork via powder coat in a precise and detailed manner. This product offers ultimate versatility for powder coating as the powder solution can be sprayed on with an airbrush, HVLP gun, or brushed on like a normal liquid paint and then cured like a traditional powder coat leaving a very durable and smooth finish behind." https://www.powderbuythepound.com/liquid_2_powder_-1_pint.html

  7. Here's yet another twist to this here discussion. I was researching powder coating techniques for my bucktails, and I ran across this: It would work for wood lures, and any material that can take the curing heat. Now, I wonder what powder coat golds and silvers would look like...

  9. Q----'' Did you ever get that whole upside down thing figured out? And the driving on the wrong side of the road? '' Funny thing is Mark, we seem to have gotten used to it . But when I have hired a car over there or in Sweden, I have had a few problems with direction and which side is up (North) etc - It doesn't take long to get used to it though ---BUT then we come home and have to go through re-calibrating the compass all over again . Have a great Xmas/ New Year all Pete

  13. I want to remind everyone that photos uploaded to ANY of the galleries here at Tackle Underground should not be explicit or crude. During the past few days we have had at least two different images uploaded for the contest that depicted male and female genitals and/or intimate body parts. This is NOT acceptable content. Some users reported this content and it has been removed, and rightfully so. These forums and this community are here for the good and education of everyone, regardless of whether they are 14 or 74, or even older than 74. Material should be posted with that in mind, keeping it clean and family-friendly. Parents have enough to worry about what their kids are seeing on the internet. Viewing images in a fishing tackle forum should not be one of those things they have to worry about. Your help with sticking to these guidelines is appreciated, and this will be enforced, going forward. Infractions of this type will result in warnings being issued. Thanks for your cooperation.
