  1. Hey guys, I am the developer of ClearSHield HD, the new finish Jim is referring to. I'm happy to answer any questions regarding the product, but I don't want to do so without the blessing of the owners of the board. I sent an email or two a few weeks ago about a board sponsorship, but never received a response. Looking forward to getting to know you guys, Best Regards, Andy Dear Axis Outdoor Company

  3. I don't get any paint in the eye to start with. I hold the bait with needle nosed pliers covering the jig eye. I also only heat the head enough for the paint to cover the head with a dull very light coat so there are no drips.

  6. Ya i just did a similar color (Zoom Plum Apple). Was much more red than a traditional plum I am used to like Al's showed. He wanted craws and Sticks. I nailed the craws, where the color is lighter and more translucent in the thin appendages and darker in the thick body. But the same color in the thick sticks was too dark and opaque so I had to add more raw plastic and lightened it up. Here is the Zoom color https://zoombait.com/colors/plum-apple/

  7. I looked at my recipe and it read 6 drops black grape and 5 drops red in 4 ounces of plastic. Now this particular plum looks a bit more red, so I believe Monte nailed. Go more on the red side.

  8. I like Dick Nites better than KBS. I just finished a quart of KBS, it's good, don't get me wrong, but DN is better. DN gets harder and has a slicker feel once hardened, and seems to go on a little thinner than KBS. I also like the fact that DN penetrates into the paint and forms a monolithic( in the sense that it becomes unified with the paint) finish.

  9. Hello everyone, I have been following the forum and learning from everyone. I decided I'd wait to join until I had something to contribute, so here it is..... I got tired of dealing with masking tape on the lip of my airbrushed crankbaits, so I tried something and turns out it works great. I used heat shrink tubing from Harbour Freight. Slide it over the lip, heat it until it shrinks tight. Then trim it with an Xacto knife. Put a small slit where the eyelit is, and your done. It fits like a glove yet, slides right on and off so it's reusable after paint, and an added feature is the aligator clips don't damage the lip. ~Luke~

  10. I gave up trying to do fine detail with an air brush, and just add fine lines and accents with a solvent-based sharpie now. I heat set the sharpie, and then shoot a coat of Createx clear over it, also heat set, before I add my top coat, so the sharpie doesn't run.

  13. Paint sounds expensive, but 2 oz. paints a lot of baits. Even for doing a full white base coat, I only use 5 to 8 drops per bait, depending on bait size. And I still end up shooting some into my waste jar. It ends up being one of the least expensive items once you are stocked up. Blanks, clear-coats, and hooks will all set you back way more than the paint.

  14. I've been trying for years...YEARS ive poke and prodded and I had a few people offer then nothing its not a big deal to put up the information but man people hold on to it like its Gold, I just stopped trying, I'm not going to ice skate up hill anymore, I just bought a mold and I'm happy, I'm not a fan of losing anything. I don't care if it's easy or not complicated it's a technique that's going to get lost. have you tried just looking it up on the web? I have and it's the same, no one wants to give up the ghost. I'm done searching, getting my hopes high and then getting key down so I just bought my mold and I also learned how to dip tubes, i found a different group on Facebook that holds nothing back when it comes to helping, I spend most my time on there learning and now teaching, getting info here has become a hassle, I rarely come on here cause on the FB pages guys actually try to help each other with everything, my learning curve tripled at least, on here it's like pulling teeth and that's a shame cause the whole point of this site is to help good luck to anyone trying to get that info, I'm out of the loop
