  1. Here is a gill detail I came up with ( at least have not seen before ) , I am making a top water and flat sided crankbait and will be layering a light color next to collar and darker on top for contrast . Think this will be cool detail

  3. You can't go by what the colors look like on the screen. That said, I have orange natures edge and it isn't bright and I like it for accent in craw patterns. Now, I get mine from Barlow's and the reason I mention that is because I had pumpkin natures edge from LPO and I got some from Barlow's and they were very different. The pumpkin from LPO was closer to orange and the pumpkin from Barlow's was more brown and I find that it happens a lot across different vendors. So if you want the burnt orange Dalmatian color then get the orange natures edge from Barlow's, the number is 602. Silicone Skirt Layers Nature's Edge - Barlow's Tackle (barlowstackle.com)

  4. The fish are the most important critics I always look at multiple things for a successful test. How often does it fowl? because it doesn’t matter how well catches fish if it’s tangled 90% of the time how are the fish hitting it? If your getting poor hook ups and light bites it needs adjust And most important does it produce as well or better then other lures proven effective in that body of water. Really who wants to toss a meh lure all day when there is better options This design is showing promise. The fish were Tboneing it hard with good hook ups. I threw another one of my go to’s for this lake and it didn’t produce as well as the new design. Finally very little fowling now to see if it can produce the results in other locations or if it just had a good day

  6. I worked pretty good and actually has a nice side to side on the twitch before it does a nose dive. Ended up with 16 smaller walleye/pike and lost one pike in the mid teens beside the kayak. Had the drag too tight and he hit right next to the kayak only took pics of the first pike and walleye because none were anything special

  9. Aside from the 90 degree hooks which seem to match up to the EC 570 you can tell by the number. The 10786 is equivalent to the Mustad 32786. The 10798 is equivalent to the Mustad 32798. If the number starts with a 10 it is a round bend, if it begins with 11 it is a V-Loc or sickle style. All you need to do is go to their website or Barlow's Tackle, Barlow's has the hooks categorized into 90 degree fine and heavy, 60 degree, 30 degree, and flat eye which makes it easy to find what you need.

  12. Way way too much money! If you want to work for less than minimum wage you will need a bunch of molds. Pouring by the cup will not make you any money. I have a specific bait that I love to throw. I have 11 molds 2 cavity open pour. That's 22 baits per cycle. And I would still not make any money if I sold the baits. It's a great costly hobby. I also paint hard baits and that's bigger money pit.

  13. Really appreciate the responses here. Has given me some more things to try and absolutely will be seeking safety advice before blasting my experimentations through an airbrush. Will report back if I have any success (or further failures).

  14. Funny, we talk all the time about the dangers of just pouring soft plastics, and now we are talking about using chemicals that make plastisol seem like distilled water. Are people just massively overstating the problems with plastisol, or are we understating the dangers of this process???? I am not sure that MEK and "butanone?" would be even close to safe to use in any enclosed environment. For sure, I would use the best possible respirators if I did use them.

  15. Hillbilly voodoo thanks for your reply and advice. Yes I'm targeting the smaller size trout. 100m from my house in a small river. I'm going to work way up to the larger ones. This photo would be the average size Brook trout that I catch. Everyone I see here uses worms. I think the river is to overgrown for a fly rod, but I've ordered and received a tenkara rod, I bought some WalMart cheap flies to try, when the bugs start, and I can see the fish jumping, I'm hoping to catch the limit.

  16. I started making my own, I use dragonskin 10 silicone from smoothon and I use their colorant slic pig for color, then craft glitter. I made a custom 3d printed rotary tool to cut the sheets. I mix the silicone light color first pour a cookie sized bit on wax paper (rough side up) then sandwich it with gloss side down. I then add darker color tothe same silicone and pour another, etc etc. Then roll it out to a thickness I want and then let it cure. Then I use the rotary blades to cut the skirts (the rough side makes the silicone stay down), if they are rolled thin enough it cuts through first try, if not I have to pull them apart. Still getting my workflow down but so far I got them to about .40 to 50 cents a jig and I think they look decent, plus I like the slightly thicker look. I've made a few youtube videos on the process if you want to check them out. Revamped Outdoors. By the way the jig is my own design and made with a 3d printed mold casted in urethane with lead shot, the FG-30 weed guard is molded in when I pour. In case folks were wondering.
