  1. Anyone here pour 3 color Flukes? I'm looking for a custom color. Email me if you do. Thanks. Gene
  2. Check your local hobby stores, if you have one. I have a store here that sells the 9-ounce size. Gene
  3. Ben, I like all of them! As a matter of fact, I've always enjoyed seeing your work. Gene
  4. Row 1 - Lure 3 - South Bend Bait Co. Babe Oreno or Midge Oreno depending on the length. Midge is 2 1/4 and the Babe is 2 3/4 long. Row 2 - Lure 2 and Row 3 - Lure 2 both look like Paw Paw Bait Co. lures. Called the "Pike Minnow Lure". From around the 1930's. Row 2 - Lure 3 - South Bend Bait Co. Pike Oreno Please note: I reserve the right to be wrong! LOL Gene
  5. Have you tried catching your own and freezing them? Or using them to make a mold out of POP and then using that to make a model? Gene

    4 Pikies

Thanks all! I took them to the river yesterday for their first soaking. After some minor tuning they swam great. Gene

    4 Pikies

Here's a little bit of retro. I made these for a friend of mine in Columbia, Missouri. The top three are 6 inches long and made out of paulownia. The bottom one is made out of eastern red cedar and is 5 inches long. All are finished with D2T. Gene
  8. You don't have to have a lot of experience to participate. Remember, every lure maker here started out just like you. )Some of us had it a little harder though. When I started there wasn't TackleUnderground or even personal computers then so I had to learn on my own.) There is a list of rules at the top of the "Lure Swap" forum. Please read them. They should cover any other questions that you may have. When we have another swap you are most welcome to participate, if you'd like. Gene
  9. Vic, Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. My mind went out for a walk and just got back. Let's start with the dimensions: 1 7/8" long, 3/4" tall, and 3/4" wide. The lure sits low in the water. About 3/4 of the height sits below the surface. I have a picture but I don't know how to post it here. If you want, I can e-mail it to you. I hope this helps. Gene
  10. Vic, I hate to let a secret out here but i have several of the Rebel Humpbacks. They are one of my "go to" baits. My slogan is, "When I'm in a slump, I break out the hump." I have only made one of them and it is a deep diver with a circuit board lip. It works well. I would have to go out to the boat to give a picture, measurements, or anything else like that. Let me know if you want me to do that. Gene
  11. Mark, Woodcraft has them. Here is a link for your size: http://www.woodcraft.com/product/2004896/7285/carter-urethane-tire-for-16-band-saw-112-wide.aspx You can probably find them at other places but Woodcraft is where I bought mine. I've bought most of my woodcarving tools from them and have had a great business association with them. Gene
  12. Mark, You might want to look into replacing your tires with urethane ones. There are supposed to last longer and require no glue to install. Gene
  13. Mark, I had to do something so I thought I would give it a try. I didn't expect it last long so I went and bought new urethane tires. The urethane tires are still in their original package. I've not had to use them yet. As a rule my bandsaw get turned on at least once every day. Gene
  14. Musky Glenn, I had the same problem 2 or 3 years ago. I used contact cement on both the wheel and the tire (as it's called). Hasn't come off since. Gene

    ultralite lures

Robertpatachia, I'm always impressed by your work. Once again, excellent job! Gene
  17. Aaron4mvp, Being a woodcarver, I have several knives (including quite a few that I made myself). For the money, the Murphy knife is, by far, the best carving knife you can buy. Flexcut also makes a great carving knife but will cost you almost three times what the Murphy will. Regardless of which knife you buy, you will also need a fine stone to hone your edge with occassionally and a strop to add that razor edge. You'll ONLY use the stone when the strop doesn't give you the razor edge or if you damage the edge. A strop can be made with a good piece of clear-grained hardwood such as maple, poplar, or cherry. Avoid soft woods such as pine, spruce, or some cedars and woods with pronounced grains as these will not give your knife the proper edge it needs. Glue a piece of THIN leather onto your wood with some contact cement, add some extra fine polishing compound (found at Lowe's or other improvement stores), and you're set to go. Gene
  18. You can just "touch-up" the dimples but it will not not blend with your first coat. If you don't mind the imperfections, the touch up will work. However, a second coat will solve your problem. Gene

    Spray Booth?

I have a fan that I place in a window in my shop. It exhausts all of the fumes to the outside. Yes, I am spraying water-based paints. Computer fans work great, too and are cheap and easy to find. If your are using solvent-based paints, I would suggest using a squirrel cage fan. They exhaust the fumes without exposing the fumes to the motor. Gene
  20. Nice job Mark! I've been working on a craw of my own. When I get finished with the carving Coley is going to make a mold of it. Gene
  21. Vic, I normally post the swap in hardbait section as I know there aren't many people that look this low. Jerry and I have talked about it and what we can do to get more exposure. Maybe I'll try it again. Gene
  22. I posted one two weeks ago but had no responses to it. So, I deleted the post. I don't mind doing a swap if we can get some others interested. Gene

    Packaging

Did you look at Jann's? They have a few assorted sizes. Here's a link: http://www.jannsnetcraft.com/polybags-boxes/371111.aspx Gene
  24. The small minnow nets found in the fishing department at Wal-mart work great and is the softest netting I've found. Gene
