  1. Try searching foam or foamies in the archives. There'll be a ton of info on this subject. Good Luck
  2. KB Kelly is in the process of building a new web site, plus coming out with a whole new line of Mimic Balsa Baits, while also trying to fill orders. The best way to get get ahold of him is to call him at the shop, the numbers on the web site. He said that he was getting ready to drop the bottom out of the prices on all wood bodies. He said that he found a better wood source. Also coming out with through wired baits for Musky or Pike. Keep checking the web site for new updates. Stacy
  3. What's wrong with a hobbyist buying pre-made components and building great baits for themselves. Then learning the craft to build their own components. I know when I started out I would've given anything to have been able to buy components and all I had to was assemble, paint, clear then fish.
  4. Michael, do you live around C-Town OH?
  5. Hey Micheal I just know some history about homemade flat sides, especially in east TN. I am curious about that "Silver Dollar" though. David Walker (FLW Angler of the Year) had showed me some of Wes's baits. Great baits, awesome flash, but they still stem from Pete Reynolds. Show some pics of that Silver Dollar. Like I said I'm curious. Still learning, Stacy
  6. Hey Micheal, Pete Reynolds came up with that shape of lure body long before Gary or Wes was making theirs. This shape or ones close to it can be attributed to Pete Reynolds IE Little Petey. The baits on lure hardware are for guys who want to build them and paint them. To each his (or her) own, I guess. There's still allot of fun to be had at building and painting without carving.
  7. I'm kinda lost on the ethics side of using the DBait. I'm not quite sure I follow ya Michael
  8. Personally I believe most of patterns and colors out there are used to catch fisherman not fish. Not that they wouldn't work, but they have to catch the fisherman's eye before they hit the water. Just a fisherman's opinion with more color patterns than I'll ever use.
  9. I like Custom Tackle Crafters Guild. CTCG just rolls right off your tongue.
  10. If you tie directly to the bait, you had better tie some type of a looped knot. I don't know the actual knot name, but you cant cinch down on the knot when tying directly to the bait. It'll make it run crazy. I use a snap when tuning and then tie to the split ring when fishing. There has to be some play between the line and the bait for it to run right.
  11. Why not give it a try yourself? I'm sure you'll find there is more than enough people on this site that can help you out with any questions you might have.
  12. Be sure to wear a good dust mask when sanding or using a Dremmel to shape it. I could be wrong, but I think that cedar dust is pretty bad for you. I'm not for sure so do some research on it. Back to Skeeter's point I was makin some round cedar baits and noticed that when I sanded them, the grain would stay the same and left ridges in the bait. I must have been using the stuff he was talkin about. Anyway good Luck.

I believe what Jed is talking about is Patent Pending status. It is way cheaper to file this and affords 1 year to build your proto-types, submit your plans and pursue your patent. Just do some research on this site. http://www.uspto.gov/
  14. I'll agree with Terry. I have an Anthem and love it. One tip, one needle, it does a pretty descent fine line too. I personally think that you get allot of BANG for your buck with the Anthem.
  15. Hey Blackjack, Does CC stand for crankbait copier? He stole my brother's jerkbait model. He calls it the Aggressor. Check out www.mimiclures.com jerkbait. They are awful similar.
