  1. Its a temporary safeguard to prevent crashing the server (searching back 10 years). The next anticipated update will include a better search engine (sphinx) and will improve searching in general. Mark, thats intended behaviour, thats unintended in our specific case. The gallery link in your profile links to your personal album, since we dont permit "personal albums" and instead use galleries sorted by content, there is no link available. This setup resulted in less than stellar ways to review your photos,I'm aware, I'm hoping this will be fixed in the next release, if not,I've begun working around the issue. I just don't want to fix it, then have to re-fix after the next update. Hope that helps, Jerry
  2. Thanks for sharing your work. Please add it to our gallery: http://www.tackleunderground.com/community/gallery so members can rate and comment on it there. Closing this topic, reason: Site Rule #3 This is an automated post, if you have objections please contact the moderator or administrator directly.
  3. Please take advantage of our dedicated classifieds and want ads section located here: http://www.tackleunderground.com/tu_classifieds/ Thank you. This is an automated post, if you have objections please contact the moderator or administrator directly.
  4. I'm getting a couple reports of delays/missing packages, if you have yet to receive anything, shoot me a PM <<--< Link
  5. The offender has been removed from the thread, but to avoid having to go back and delete pages worth of posts, Please simply get it back on topic and the topic can stay. Sorry for the disturbance, carry on.
  6. Therese many preferable reasons we have it setup this way. Have a look around the net for other luremaking forums, you'll see little discussion and alot of exhibition. We welcome your photos and want to see them, just not in the forums. Nothing in the way our forums are structured has changed in years, and the concise, in-depth, on topic discussions you enjoy here is a direct result of the forums and gallery being separated. Once you visit the gallery, it will make sense, commenting and discussion is permitted in the gallery.
  7. Thats a good price, ones I see at big box stores are $20-30 but its a whole kit, square spit, brackets, motor etc.
  8. Odd, I've never found one under 4rpm, maybe a west coast thing?
  9. Thanks for the feedback, there was an issue back in November where we were being hammered by a chinese search engine. disallowing access to that search spider cleared up the lag, but obviously speed is arbitrary given by the varied experiences posted here. I'm watching the server load and setup a notice to my cell when load times go over. Thank you again for the feedback.
  10. The 1st topic in question, the entire post contained this and a photo: "Ok, after tieing a few bucktails, time to make some spinners. Here is my 1st batch" Exhibition topics are not permitted in the luremaking forums. This is a perfect candidate for our gallery. It's what we made the gallery for. I understand that many other forums allow exhibition and bragging topics (we do too), but we have a dedicated section for this outside the technical discussion forums. The gallery is insanely popular, it will be seen and you will usually get feedback (comments) on the photo/s. The other topic is indeed a grey area, we try our best, there was one valid sentence included with the photo where you asked whether to lengthen or shorten the bucktail. Even though that could easily be discussed in the gallery, I'll revisit the topic and look a restoring it. As far as cross posting (posting a topic to increase exposure to another) whether it be cross posting a gallery upload, classified ad, etc; will usually get deleted. Moving this from "wire baits forum" to the "docks"
  11. 36" is standard countertop height........42 is bartop height I was told once for a truly custom fit, measure the distance from the floor to your elbows and build to suit, use an adjustable stool to allow sitting or standing. I prefer 36" for general use, allows me to get over a task for added leverage.
  12. Congratulations Nathan!! TU Co-founder and site moderator Nathan Bettencourt had a new grandson and future fishing buddy this morning! Blake James Lewis born Wed. Dec. 21st. 2:55AM 5lbs13oz 19" Congratulations to you and the family bud, he's beautiful.
  13. I re-enabled the bone stock layout that comes with the forum, if anyone wants to troubleshoot the "back button" issue then go to the bottom of this page, look for a link in the lower left labeled "Change Theme" in the dropdown, select "IP.Board" that will revert to the default "skin" shipped with the software. Try to duplicate the issue, (which seems to be in microsoft internet explorer) and report back in this thread. I have a sneaking suspicion its the new navigation menu I built recently, if so, that will suck, because I really don't want to revert back to the old vertical navigation menu. Lemme know, thanks, Jerry
  14. My pleasure, cant wait to see what you guys get! Questions comments, let me know. Take pics!

  17. Waiting for one more participant to get their postal info in order. if I dont hear back from them today, we'll have to drop that person to keep schedule. Thanks for the patience everyone.
  18. Sorry, I'm awaiting a couple members to complete their postal info so we can draw names. I've contacted those members and if no response by Tuesday, we'll unfortunately have to move on without them. Everyone should already be building, unless you were holding out to personalize your item, in that case, sorry for the delay, I'm sure they will respond asap. I'll update the thread promptly. Thank you to everyone participating and hope you get something really cool out of it!!
  19. Thanks for the kind words amid fixing the trouble spots. I apologize for not spotting this sooner, I've recently gone "windows free" meaining I personally dont use microsoft windows at all, I still use windows and internet explorer for testing and debugging the site, but the back button lag seems to mainly afflicting members using internet explorer. I'll make one change at a time then check it on my laptop (MS windows) if anyone is able to check it along with me to see if its fixed, feel free. Jerry (ps. mark poulson, I got your message regarding the gallery, we'll move onto that when were done here)
  20. Wow, ok. Each of ya post a quick reply and let me know what browser and version number. We will fix this, thanks for the feedback. For now, like what was mentioned earlier, the nav menu is a temporary workaround, and the breadcrumb menu (eg; TackleUnderground.com→ Public Tackle Making Forums→ Hard Baits) under the logo is helpful. As for virus and malware concerns, we do not host such things, if you feel otherwise please contact me directly with that info. Thanks, Jerry
  21. "Like" button is above --------------------------------------------------^
  22. I agree its confusing, the gallery link in your profile is meant to link to your "personal" photo gallery. That's a feature we don't use here, instead we use community wide galleries based on styles of tackle. I'll look into replacing the link in the profile to be more relevant. Thanks.
  23. Miss out on the last lure swap or looking to add to your custom tackle collection? Spread a little holiday cheer by joining our "Secret Sander" tackle exchange! Works like most "Secret Santa" exchanges, All US residents are welcome to participate. (Due only to timing issues and being late in the season) If successful, we will plan one worldwide earlier for next year. How it works: All participants will randomly receive the name and address of another participant to make for. Participants aren't paired or reciprocal, they will simply be chosen at random. You will not know who is making for you and vice versa. The recipient won't have a clue who you are unless you elect to tell them, you have the option of remaining anonymous by not leaving a name on the package. General rules: Must be functioning (usable) fishing tackle, made by yourself or your outfit. Must be US resident. Must be able to ship via USPS priority mail which includes free delivery confirmation. If you CANNOT ship by the posted deadline simply DO NOT sign up. Try and adhere to a fair market value of $10-$15 product total. Going over is fine if you're feeling generous. How to participate: FIRST Check the following link & make sure your postal address is available and updated in our system. We will pass your postal address to, and only to, the one member randomly chosen as your "Sander", otherwise your complete postal address remains hidden to the public as usual. After your postal info is available "Like" this post, to sign up. The "Like" button is located lower-right of this post. We will use this as our list of participating members. After cutoff, you will be privately assigned another random participating member to make for. Make and mail your gift before the postal deadline. Await your gift to arrive shortly after Christmas! The most important thing is to follow through with your gift. It only works if everyone sends something and gets something in return. Signup's are open from now until Sat. Dec. 17th. After which you will receive your addressee via PM. Merry Christmas Everyone! Jerry "redg8r" p.s. I know the name "secret sander" is corny, feel free to pass along a funnier name if you come up w/ one
  24. Hang Tight, No significant changes have been made, we're just temporarily compensating for a server issue while trying to keep the site available. Sorry for the confusion
