  1. Since you're doing the offset drive, I'd like to tinker with a direct drive option. Going from your recommendations, a stepper with some sort of shaft coupler. For this wheel we want to control: on/off speed (rpm) runtime Correct? Once you've sourced a display, pass us a link. That's about the only component I'm completely unfamiliar with.
  2. Hi Charles, Any reason to discount a servo? I ask because a servo would negate the need for a driver/bridge. But isnt a servo simply a dc gearmotor? maybe cycle time was an issue? Thank you for taking up the project. I was discussing the arduino with a few members at the annual meeting and received some odd looks But I think once the community sees what this lil dev board is capable of, we'll see interest in adapting it to increase production, or make mundane tasks in our production much simpler. Couple more questions: 1) A full blown mega or even a duemilanove seems overkill. Could we use a smaller board like a mini? 2) which type of board is most versatile? the uno? Thanks
  3. Lets all please get back on topic in regards to OP question, thank you.

    Molding

Oops sorry Aery, just saw you posted your needed temp, but yeah, polyester should take that heat. Like Dave said though, shrinkage is more of a factor with polyester resin. maybe undercatalyzing slightly will negate shrinkage as much as possible. If you can work the brass rod or tube, it seems the easiest route, yeah?

    Molding

Polyester is more heat resistant, If I remember correctly, somewhere above 400f. I don't remember what temp you use to vulcanize your molds so not sure if it would work.
  6. I merged the threads, then moved it to the tutorial section, that should help.
  7. Can you visit this link on your work PC and post your resolution for me? http://www.whatismys...resolution.com/ I'm being told this is an Internet Explorer v9 browser issue. If the microsoft guys cant patch it (~cough, um-hmm) The forum developers will find a workaround. The good news is that your comments still post and are recorded, even though you get a confusing error.
  8. As it stands right now, correct. (in the forum threads, that is.) I don't agree, it only add confusion. I have to agree, with personal navigation such as profiles ,settings, etc. OK, that makes sense now, you prefer to search/sort by "user". I know this wont be much help either but, if you see a photo/post/topic, etc. its usually followed by a "LIKE" link, which adds the reference to your profile where you can group the info for later reference. The path is: My Settings >> Settings >> Content You Like This will change (for the better) in an upcoming release where we can "Follow" any/all content and get updates when the reference changes. Thanks for posting the actual error message, that helps, I'll look into it and get right back to ya. Thank you fellas, Jerry
  9. Here's the thread: http://www.tackleunderground.com/community/topic/22537-handmade-hardbait-lure-swap/ BTW, Thanks Lincoya for heading this up. Have fun.
  10. Mark, the link is there, you just cant see your own.... i cant see mine either, unless i log in from a test account, heres your link: http://www.tackleunderground.com/community/index.php?app=gallery&module=user&section=user&user=14932 As for the IE browser issues, I'll check into it. Thanks
  11. Facebook is an example, particularly when you post a link on facebook, FB tries to pull a relevant image from the webpage linked and attempts to set it as a thumbnail image to ride alongside the textual hyperlink. Can it be done? almost certainly...... can I do it? ..... whole different story I'll definitely look into it as it is a useful function.
  12. Yeah, grab a pic from the URL, store it here on TU, was the thought. Sorry, I'm prone to long, overly technical run-on sentences......bad habit
  13. Well put. With more advertisers coming on and financially supporting the site server, we may consider relaxing the outbound hotlink rule, thus allowing members to use the gallery in much the same way you currently use photobucket or other photo hosts. I may also be able to enable the gallery to allow you to use a (URL, such as photobucket links) instead of uploading and have TU grab a copy of the image and automatically store that copy on TU, therefore, preventing you from manually uploading the same photo to your existing host (photobucket) AND TU. I'll consider running a member poll regarding a showcase forum. I do understand that alot of forums function that way and alot of times it's simply more intuitive for members to exhibit that way since its done so much on other fishing & luremaking boards. Thanks again for the input. Jerry "redg8r"
  14. I just performed the same steps the OP mentioned on your profile and received 3 pics also. The search results noted that they were limited from June 17th 2010, so in other words, 1 year. I'll look into sorting options to allow adjustment of the dates, but for now the solution I provided above works for ALL submissions. Thanks for the info, Jerry "redg8r"
  15. There is a graphic under every forum post that contains a link to every gallery submission from that member, here is a clipping: TU isn't currently restricting access to any pics, please share any links that are giving "odd" results and I'll look into it directly. This is not a jab, just an honest question, but how are you keeping track of your "favorites from past years"? bookmarks? or are you using the TU site features? just trying to understand your statement. Good question and your concerns do have merit.... Too many sites use a bulletin board as an end-all solution, If we were to create a "showcase" forum, how would that be an improvement of over a gallery? You would have to click a text link before you ever even see a photo!? Our Gallery Submissions can be rated, discussed, favorited, etc, just like a forum, but focuses on the visual media instead of textual content. My personal opinion is that our luremaking forums are the most useful, concise, and well structured on the web, and alot of that is in direct relation to the proper use of a gallery. This keeps our luremaking forums free from loads of threads titled "hey look at this!" that contains a column of 20 photos of the same bait in a different pose. We welcome all our members to exhibit their work here and we're proud to feature them in our Gallery. We used to have issues with members using the forums to post pics only with no related discussions on TU anywhere, they wouldn't even respond to any questions about their posted photos. The reason we require the images be "uploaded" is simply for preservation. what happens if you delete your album from photobucket? or if PB decides another album you have violate thier terms and they suspend your account?.... well then the images are now disabled on TU. Photobucket and other hosts also limit bandwidth, so if a picture gets too many hits, they disable the image for a period of time. rendering it useless on any sites it was embedded or "hotlinked" to. I'm certainly open to refining the gallery, if you have any further feedback it is always appreciated. Recent discussions have uncovered some instability in the gallery and I've worked to improve it. if you think something is outta whack, feel free to let me know. Thank you guys, Jerry "redg8r"
  16. Umm... were you wearing gloves?
  17. Hi, what do you mean by "dropshipper"? Are you looking not to carry any inventory and have someone else handle fulfillment?
  18. Gallery should default to "detail'ed view now, including author info. ?? Here is a link to your uploads: http://www.tackleunderground.com/community/index.php?app=gallery&module=user&section=user&user=17498 Not sure what trouble your having, let me know if it persists. Double check this link: http://www.tackleunderground.com/community/index.php?app=core&module=usercp you can optionally set your "search settings" to "show me all content that I have not read".
  19. Update!! Editing functionality is available now, if you have any issues, let me know.
  20. Yes, because it enables an ill intentioned seller to change or alter the description after a sale or agreement is made. The ads are locked as a record and reviewable by staff if a disagreement is reported by a buyer or seller. If you need to alter/edit an ad, simply create a new ad and link to it in the original ad by adding a comment to it.. We're working on a "revision" system to keep track of changes, once we get it ironed out, you will be able to revise your ads. Hope that makes sense. (moving topic to the docks)
  21. Inquiring about the value of a product is acceptable in the luremaking forums, however, offering it for sale is not. Keep on topic, or post it for sale in the classifieds, once you figure a price, that is. good luck.
  22. LurePartsOnline has unveiled their new SwimTails™ trailer! The new SwimTails™ trailer looks to be an effective component for quick & painless color combo's and easily upgrades your spins & jigs. The durable silicone construction should allow for a wide range of applications to add to your arsenal. LPO offers seven standard colors. New colors will be released this summer according to LPO chief Ron Stevens. “Due to the initial success, we already have new color combinations in the works. We’re very excited about where this could go – the possibilities are endless. We’re also hoping to add more sizes, including a magnum size for muskie and northern baits.” Interesting information, for more, log onto LurePartsOnline.com, or call 800-546-8922 to speak to a rep. Tell em you found it on TackleUnderground!
  23. Excellent job guys! Sorry for getting into this topic so late but just wanted to add my experience. I made my first batch a couple days before departing on the TU roadtrip and unintentionally left a few bags of baits behind in my shop. When I returned home over the weekend I found the baits had molded. Maybe a preservative of some sort would help in that area. Citric acid is natural & comes off the top of my head. Havnt tried it yet, just thinking aloud. Carry on
  24. I understand...... the functionality is there, as you pointed out, perhaps I can look into the system to see if it can be used as u describe. If you followed the discussion on the new gallery format, you may be aware that I was unprepared for the upgrade thanks for the input, always appreciated. And +1 on the lightbox, pvc pipe & an old pillowcase works well. if you have a macro setting on your camera, use that, avoid zoom & get close to the subject when shooting. good luck w/ it.
  25. Our gallery is laid out much like the luremaking forums, we have separate albums for hard baits, soft plastics, etc. We do not yet support individual member albums like a typical photo hosting service does, but its something we're looking at for the future. For now, if you want to see posted photos restricted by a particular member, that functionality is available by using the search function in the gallery itself. Hope that helps, Jerry
