  1. That is great news. It's nice to see you guys had the chance to get together. Sounds and looks like you all had a supper time. That's a cool way to do a dinner. What a nice way for TU members to get to meet each other. It's too bad there are so many miles and storms between us all.
  2. Hi there Big-D, This thread being between wire baits and tying the hair on the baits, Hope we're in the right spot here. You must be tying some big stuff; a 1/8th oz jig is not that big. I kind of think if you tied the hair on a jig and then bent it back and tied it down again; you must have an awful hump of hair. Don't you get a big clump under the thread when you tie it down on top of the thread? I've tied many poppers and used to tie jigs, and using just plane ol lacquer cement will hold down any type of hair or thread after it dries, and gives you a nicer looking head or band of thread. This is just a comment, you can tie anyway you like. There are many ways of getting the job done. I wish you could put a picture on here so I could see what it looks like.
  3. This is getting interesting. I've been following along since the first post. I might have to change my ways a little, but count me in. I can come up with something unique for a cause like this.
  4. Welcome to the TU site Neil, Looking forward to what you have to offer from England. What kind of fishing do you do? It's neat the way our computers have made the world smaller and that we can share and exchange idea's. Again, Welcome!
  5. Welcome Luckystrike2, Nice to see another fly tier join us. Looking forward to seeing some of your work. Again, Welcome and hope you enjoy the Tackleunderground site.
  6. Hi there Soupysayso, Where are you getting the tungsten? I did a little research on tungsten earlier this year and I'll attach the reply I received. Do you have better information? What do you think?
  7. Sounds like you have a pretty good handle on the salmon and Coho fishing Todd. Looks to be some good fishing there in the years to come. We have the fish ladders on the Grand River and you would be shocked to see the guys with treble hooks snagging. It's awful! I have never witnessed it but I read about it in the paper every year. Those are not sportsman, not sure what to call them and still keep the post clean. I hope you get the license to be a fishing guide Todd. That would be a real rewarding way to spend some time on the lakes and rivers. Good luck buddy.
  8. Hey Todd, Good information. Barbless hooks huh, that I didn't know. If I were to go fishing there, I'd probably end up in jail if I didn't have a guide telling what not to do. Very nice post and good info. Thanks.
  9. Hey you guys, Do I get all those goodies with the case of Cheerwine I ordered? Man all that grease sounds good. Really looking forward to it getting here. Just reading what you guys wrote, I can feel my arteries closing up.
  10. The pick page is really neat, wait till you complete it, that's when you'll get what's new pussy cat filling your speakers. Then you get your picks emailed back to you. g8r has fixed this up nice. Way to go Jerry..
  11. Wow! Look at Detroit, with their record, who would think they'd win a game. It's a shame they broke such a good solid loosing streak. Now we don't know what to think of them..
  12. Welcome WaterWerx. Seems like we all have been watching that Ivan bugger. That sucker turned west and it's headed for you in Pensacola isn't it? I hope I'm wrong. Best of luck if it is on the way there. keep us posted. Like I said, Welcome to the TU group. Hope you enjoy the site.
  13. Blades and Baits, Thanks for all the nice comments about the site. It's people like you that make the site what it is. Come in anytime and join in the fun and games we play here learning from one another. I don't think a day goes by that something new isn't discovered or something old is rediscovered. We all have a good time here learning from each other and it's nice to see a new name join us. Hope you get more free time to spend with us. Once again, Welcome to the site.
  14. Wish I had a buck or two for each time I'm wrong. Is there a losers pot? I don't remember Jerry mentioning it.
  15. What a game last night. How is this? and the winner is I'm one for one. Am I going the wrong direction?? Oh well, better luck on Sunday huh...
  16. Glad to hear you and family are safe. Trees in your living room, Whew!! Yep it's time to haul butt out of there. It looks like Ivan will be another nightmare. Keep us posted. Our prayers are with all you guys there in Fl.
  17. Like I said above, I use USPS and do my own postage. Most of what I mail goes priority mail. I have never had a pkg. not show up. I should be pushing brown! They are teamsters and I need them to keep working so I keep my pension. Oh well..
  18. Wow Mallard, Glad to hear you are all OK, between the two storms you must have very few shade trees left. What a mess. I hope that Ivan decides to take another route like about 200 East of the coast and blow off somewhere else. I don't think you guys need another one. You said you just got your power on last night from Charlie? You had no power as Frances was booming in on you? Man!! Maybe you guys down there should spend your summers in Mi and your winters down there..Of course that would be no fun because you have all the good fishing down there. Sometimes you can't win for loosen. Glad to see you're alright. Back to bait building now.. and putting everything back together. Take care.
  19. Hi RiverMan, Insurance is cheaper than re-making and re-shipping an order. When you ship out of the US, always insure, even to Canada. The cost is worth it. Check out www.stamps.com if you do a lot of shipping. Vary handy and you can insure & track your mail. Check it out..
  20. Hey there Bass Bugs, I see you made it in. Welcome to TU. Those foam bugs look awesome. You will probably have to post some on the fly tying thread for the guys to see. Once again. Welcome to TU..
  21. For all you guys with Family and friends in Fl and GA area, Our prayers are with you. So glad to see the winds have come down off that 140mph mark, 105 is bad enough. That is a lot of water in an hour's time. Hope you are all safe through this. On a lighter side, This is what the yahoo instant messenger said about Mi weather today. Lansing Mi Light snow -9 F Actually it's 87 right now.
  22. I can imagine things in Jerry's back yard are a little messy right now. He's probably strapping everything down and keeping an eye on ol Frances for the time being. Probably when the storm gets out of the way, g8r will be back to move this post and take care of business. All the buttons will be turned on shortly Jake, then we can move the misplaced post. No problem backlasher55, just hang tight..
  23. Hey Toby!!! Welcome back! Nice to see you back in print and know you're still with us. Been missing those eyes watching us. Hope all is well and looking forward to hearing and seeing more of you.
  24. Ya!! I'll second that. Shawn and Jake, You guys have been around for a while and your TU site knowledge and computer skills are most welcome. I've already noticed that you guys are on top of things. Great to have you both.
  25. Hi KL, They look pretty good to me, even without the smile. Thanks for posting. It's always nice to see new work.
