  1. Hey check this out! This is a video shot from an OBX fishing chart boat, about 1 mile out. Do you think you'd need a steel leader? What kind of finish do you use for this type of lure...steel? Little Sal http://poachersportfishing.com/sharkmovie.asp
  2. Richo GREAT JOB!!! Keep up the good work!!! Little Sal
  3. Led, No offense what so ever, I call them "inspired by Regal", but to my buddies I call them knock offs. I have seen a lot of them out there, and know about 10 companies that will make them, but I have seen a lot of junk ones. I also sell wholesale flies, and I give them to some of my tyers to use. They love them, for how easy they are to use and adjust, one guy actually bought 5...one for work (desk drawer) one for camp, etc. Little Sal
  4. I use and sell the Regal knock offs, and you do have to watch where you get the from, some are real junk. I have some tiers who have tied 500+ dozen flies and they just love them, espically for the price. There is one complaint though, and they same complain with the Regal's...if you try to tie VERY small hooks, size 24 or smaller, they can chip. This is beacuse you have to put the hook in the very tip of the jaws. Good part most guys don't tie that small, and the chips are very small and won't effect your other hooks when tying. As for the range of hooks, I have a "standard" and "midge" version of the same vise. The midge goes from about a 1/0 to 22. The standard goes from about a 4/0 to 16. Those are just some guidelines I go by, and they hold the hooks very well. Whenever some one is interested in buying one I put a Mustad hook, about size 10, in it so they can see the tip of the hook, and start bending the hook until it breaks. The hook tips have yet to ever move, and I bend the hook front to back, not left to right. I have never tried it with any 1/0 or larger hooks, but your thread will break before it moves. Hope this helps. Little Sal
  5. I have both, started off with Boggs, and moved on to Hagen's, I like the Hagens better. It is easier for me to use. Nothing wrong with Boggs, I just prefer the Hagen's, I think it worth the extrta $. Little Sal
  6. How big (fat) in diameter of a body can you use when making an in line spinner? I would like to make a fat bodied musky bucktail spinner, and have the blade above the body. Does a willow leaf ride too close to the body? Little Sal
  7. Last chance guys, I can save you about 50% from lakeland. Just thought I'd try to help out. Little Sal
  8. Sorry, made a mistake...I WILL be able to get better prices than the other big suppliers. Little Sal
  9. Hey I am going to be getting some large brass lure bodies, the "musky" kind that worth and lakeland carry from a source of mine, and wanted to see if anyone is interested. The prices for BRASS aren't really that much better than Lakeland or worth, BUT if you want GOLD I have a pretty good deal. I have a comapny who makes my own brand of fly tying beads, and have gotten them to make lure bodies as well. I really don't plan on selling them, but I do want to use them for my own line of spinners, BUT the minimum is alittle high for me right now....so if interested send me an e-mail and I'll let you know more. You will have to order by the bag of 1,000 pcs. Little Sal keith@chumslures.com
  10. I got it to work, but everytime I log in I have to do it twice, no matter what. Oh well. Little Sal

    BIG Hooks

Does anyone know where I might be able to find some BIG hooks, I am looking for Novelty hooks. Let's say size 9/0 fly fishing hooks, again for novelty, not to use. Thanks, Little Sal
  13. Gonefishindd: I am hoping to do 2 shows out your way this spring...Harrisburg, and Fort Washington's Fly Fishing Expo. Little Sal
  14. Thanks for the help guys! I think I am going to just box the flies up in either 4's or 6's. I think I will have too many flies and too many people moving by to have them loose. I am planning on having a big pegboard display behind a table that will have most all items for sale. The plan is to have a display and samples of everything on the table, and have the people place an order. I could use some suggestions on how to build a nice display case that is simple and will fit on a table top, and hold around 200 flies and small jigs. Gonefishindd, do you have any idea of how well the man with the flies next to you did, and was it a big show? Cavu: just do a search on Google.com for fishing shows, and you should find some, I did. Little Sal
  15. I would appreciate any advice anyone can give... I am planning on attending several trade / outdoor shows this spring for the first time, and was trying to decide on my packaging. I will be taking mostly hand tied flies, a lot of electroplated and painted beads, dumbells, and cone heads, and some other tying supplies. I know my prices are good, but how should I package them... Flies: (in clam shells) how many per box??? 4, 6, or 12 Beads, dumbells, or coneheads: (in plastic bags) 20, 25, 50, or 100 Prices would be: 20 = $0.99 25 = $1.25 50 = $2.50 100 = $5.00 I do not want to have a lot of different package choices, as shows can be a bit crazy, and hopefully cut down on any confusion. Any imput would be helpful. Even if you've never set up at a show, which would be more tempting for you to buy. Thanks, Little Sal
  16. I am planning to go to as many shows as I can this year, and am looking for ANY type advice. How to set up...How to prevent people from stealing...how to best advertise... Thanks, Little Sal
  17. I am looking for a jig mold, and don't know who makes it, or even what it is called. It is a round (I assume collarless) ball, that is on a baitholding or nymph hook with a turned down eye, instead of a normal 90 degree turn jig hook. I am looking for them in small sizes...from 1/16 to 1/100 ounces. Here is a site that sells them tied: http://www.northamericancrappie.com/grizzly_jigs.htm Any help in finding a mold and what they are called would be appreciated. Thanks, Little Sal
  18. I have another company do my electroplating for me and I have a few questions for those who know the process, because I don't. First, they tell me they are having trouble with the jigheads. They say that the shaft is "rough", because they aren't dipping it into the acid bath because they are worried it will damage the lead and hook. Second, when I get them to plate the brass bodies and beads, they have some difficulty keeping the finish VERY shiny. They tell me know that they will dip them twice to help improve the finish. ANY help will be appreciated! Little Sal
  19. Hello, Can anyone reccomend a software program to help with business inventory, and book keeping? Kj

    Wire

I am looking for some wire / leader material. I once saw an ad for some that said it was suppose to be VERY flexible and strong. Any help? Little Sal
  21. I have designed a series of new flies, and would like "some" protection with them. A patent is not an option too much money, and I really don't think it's a "true" new invention, just a new design. I have already done the "poor man's Patent". I am trying to find out if I can use a trademark for it, kind of similar to what Blakemore did (wether or not it's valid). All i want is a little protection, and most of all credit for it...Mr. Clouser came up with the Clouser Minnow, and I want my "flies" name to stick. Does anyone know which type of trademark, if any I could trademark my flies under? Thank you, Little Sal keith@chumslures.com
  22. I made a few that have a similar shape, but mine looks more like a bowling pin. I added a small egg sinker to the end and it walks the dog with ease! Sorry I don't have any picks though. Keith
