  1. Jim (GaBassNerd) correct me if I am wrong but the type of mold swap you were refering to was more of a mold loan/swap. This would provide an opportunity to try out different molds before you purchase them to see if you like. Scott 'Tis the season
  2. The molds in question on ebay are made of plaster of paris. 'Tis the season Scott
  3. I have one of the face shields listed in Bass Pro Shops they work well but are fragile when stored, they crack easy . If you have the room there is nothing better than a helmet with full face shield. 'Tis the season Scott
  4. Try to pour slow steady right down the middle of the hole with no angle on the mold and pour until the overflow on the cavity is completely full. Discoloration could be a result of too much heat or a reaction from the glitter. Keep practicing and trying different methods. "Tis the season Scott

    Moisture

I know I read it on an earlier post but I can't seem to find it . How do you minimize moisture in the plastic. Up until now I poured mainly baits with a ton of salt but Senkosam planted a seed in my head and I want to tinker with clear baits and just glitter to get diffferent effects. Air bubbles significantly reduce the effects so I need to reduce my moisture content. What are some methods for doing this. 'Tis the season Scott
  6. Chris what brand of spray do you use?? Scott
  7. I got a wild hair you know where one time to try using some strained freshly crushed bluberries that I picked that day because the color looked tempting. All I can say is what a mess and no it did not work very well  . I have not tried anything out of the ordinary since that failure. Sometimes you just have to experiment but like the earlier post says make sure it is not water based... BassnG3
  8. I think that this time of year is not as good as the spring/summer. Alot of people are running around the woods hunting and others are getting ready for the holidays. BassnG3
  9. Thanks and I too would like to wish everyone a Happy Turkey day BassnG3
  10. I think a regional event would be a great idea but a national event would be more of a challenge for some. BassnG3
  11. I wrap them in bubble wrap and store in a box beneath my "Creation Station " BassnG3

    Respirators

When I first started pouring I did not use a mask and all it took was one headache and I went out and purchased a respirator by 3M. I then read some posts where members had experienced pyrex blowing up so I now where safety glasses as well. No more headaches . BassnG3
  13. CALHOUN Can't go wrong Try it you'll like it BassnG3
  14. You can do both but the easiest is using a microwave and pyrex cups. Some remelts will really stink because of the scents used. Just start with a low flame and stir stir stir.... BassnG3
  15. Del provides MSDS sheets with the plastic he sends read what it says on the sheets. I personnally would not pour inside my basement. I pour in my garage (SE Georgia) and wear a respirator when heating and pouring. Proper ventilation is necessary. BassnG3
  16. Through trial and error I no longer mess with blending my salt. I just use ordinary popcorn salt and add to my platic before heating and just put a little in each bag when packaging worms and shake them up for a nice even coating. BassnG3
  17. Make sure you mix it real well when you initially add it (prior to heating) then each time thereafter. BassnG3
  18. I tried to make a swirled stick like a Tiki Swirl but just could not come remotely close to producing something that resembled one. So out of sheer frustration I gave up on the idea . The closest thing I pour is a black and yellow stick that is layered with each color but this can be time intensive so I only pour them for myself. I remember the post that Woodsac is talking about that stated they were machine injected. Good Luck if you decide to try and post some pictures if you ever figure it out. BassnG3
  19. No doubt Kickin Bass is strong when added to the bag after baits but it does not hold up when added to hot plastic. I guess I will give Lurecraft and Pro Cure a try. Al what type of Procure do you use? BassnG3
  20. I am looking for some strong garlic scent. I currently use Kickin Bass but it takes what I think is a significant amount to get an adequate odor. Any suggestions ? BassnG3
  21. I received the aluminum cups with wood handles from Lurecraft on my last order which was about two weeks ago. I didn't ask for them but judging by all the posts that reccomended them over the stainless ones I guess I was lucky. BassnG3
  22. Practice, practice, practice. Additionally make sure your plastic is hot, this will allow for a thinner stream of plastic. Pour right down the center of the hole and pour slowly. I overfill completely to the top of the mold and let them sit for a minute then remove, trim the tops and repeat. It will be a little aggravating for the first few pours but as you pour more it gets alot easier . I hope this helps.. BassnG3
  23. Hey Greg! My first piece of advice would be to go through the archives and read as much as you can. There are posts on how to make your own molds and also listings of places you can buy molds. The most popular mold suppliers are Lurecraft, Del-Mart molds and Bobs Tackle Shack. Just use your favorite search engine for their web sites. If there are still questions just ask. BassnG3
  24. Sure am! I am coming up on twenty real soon but no plans on quitting yet!! Stationed in Kings Bay Ga. BassnG3
  25. Not trying to start an argument with you Z but I would have to say that you can pour the other half (as long as mold is warm) up to 4 minutes after pouring the first side. I have poured quite a few two sided lately and I have been experimenting with the time factor for pouring the other side. You can do the same when making different colored tails. I will pour the color for the tail in each cavity then take the mold apart trim to desired length then pour the rest of the cavity. Sometimes this takes a while to go through the whole process. All this is done with a warm mold. BassnG3
