  1. Hi Guys. I recently tried Walmart's "Triple Thick Gloss Glaze" for sealing a plaster mold. It is not the answer that I was looking for. Several sprayed-on coats were needed to seal a plaster mold, and it didn't dry as hard as I would like. I'm pretty sure that it would peel, similar to mod podge. I also tried the Devcon thing and I'm very happy with the results. I just have to learn to be careful about loss of detail. Thanks for all the help and advice ! Alan G
  2. Thanks for all the help guys. I just purchased a spray-can of Deco-Art " Triple-Thick Gloss Glaze", from WalMart. I'm gonna try it on a plaster mold. I will post a result asap. Alan
  3. Hi guys. I have finally made a few decent plaster molds for hand-pouring soft plastic. I have also discovered the need to seal plaster molds before pouring plastic. I have tried mod-podge with "OK" results, but i'd like to get away from brush-strokes. I've heard of Devcon 2-ton epoxy, but it sounds like that is also brushed-on. What is the latest-and-greatest ? Has anyone tried the spray-can glaze for plaster at Wal-Mart ? Thanks for any help ! Alan
  4. Hi guys, I'm a beginner in hand pours and I'm having trouble making original molds. I've been using plaster and Durhams water-putty to make molds from soft masters. This works ok, but creating original soft-masters is tough. Recently, I've made some hard masters using sculpey clay. I figured that a hard master would need a soft mold-medium, so I tried the silicone caulking mold. It kinda worked, but the detail level was poor. Can I use a hard master to build a hard mold like plaster or water-putty ? Thanks for any help. Alan

  6. Hi guys. I need to order some softner and heat stabilizer , and I'm wondering if it matters what brand I buy to use with my Calhoun plastic. I found websites for Lurecraft and Barlows. Any advice ? Thanks for any help ! Alan

  8. Hi guys. I'm new to hobby of hand poured plastics and I have some ?'s for all of you experts ! First off, I got started with the Bass-Pro Shops $25.00 kit, that included 1 pt. MF plastic. I just used a propane stove and an aluminum pan to get started. It worked pretty good and from there, I was hooked ! My next step was finding this website, and ordering some Calhoun from Del-Mart.com. My problem now is about the Smoke and Fumes created by using my propane stove with Calhoun Plastics. Should I be using a microwave ? Another problem is pouring small, detailed areas. Seems like my plastic is too thick, unless it's nearly scorched, to flow into the detailed area's. Thanks for any help Alan G
