  1. Right now all I have is a 4oz bullet jig (pictured), 8oz bullet, 4oz butterbean and a 6oz shad bait lure (pictured). Largest spire point I have is 2oz. If I can help you, let me know.
  2. What type of jigs do you want to produce? For a start, go to ebay and go to: sporting goods then fishing and then type molds in the search box and see what is available, also go to www.do-itmolds.com and check out what types they have to offer.
  3. Who is the outboard motor expert here? I need info on outboard motors (2 150 HP Johnsons, 1997) which have a remote oil tank. The only experience I have is with my 90 HP Yamaha which has the tank build into the motor. Are the remote oil tanks dependable or is this where the oil injected motors got an initial bad rap?
  4. The key here is to use the hollow deer hair. The tail, however hollow it might be is not the best for spinning deer hair bugs. Try some of the longer hair from the body. Also, Carabou hair and the like spin very well; in my opinion, better than deer hair.
  5. I have bought and sold molds on ebay and so far I have recieved all good molds (only buy Do-it anymore, don't like the Palmers). You all are right, so many of these people selling on ebay either don't know the average price or don't care. Sometime it makes you want to email them ans ask what the H@ll they are up to!

    Traders Post

Hi Roy Welcome to Tackle Underground. You are going to meet a great bunch of guys and gals here and the answers to most, if not all your tackle making questions. Some members even know how to fish! CJ is right, If I remember correctly, the page was for trading only and I think it turned into a classifieds section. I miss it too, but sometimes you just have to move on.
  7. First, make sure your jig heads are good and hot. The best method is to dip the jig head into the powder paint. To do this, the powder paint must be loose and "fluffy". Assuming you are using the two ounce cans, turn the can upside down and tap the bottom so the powder will drop to the top. When you turn the can right side up, the powder will fall back to the bottom and will not be packed. You will have to do this proceedure every two or three jigs. You will need to dip the jig into the powder paint and rapidly remove it then tap it on something to remove any excess powder. If the jig is hot enough and the powder loose enough and if you dip fast enough, you will get a nice even coat. See the "Powder Paint" tutorial or feel free to email me for any additional info you might need.
  8. Jim Never did get around to trying the washer thing. Does yours work lose when rotating the head?
  9. I will be more than glad to contribute to this venture. Just say when and where>
  10. does Acetone work better than laqure thinner?
  11. I know this is too simple to include in your book, but here is how I do almost all my fish: Take fish fillet (your choice of type of fish, but shark works great) Place on grill and brush on limon juice and butter mix when fish starts to cook sprinkle on limon pepper or cajun seasoning Repeat the proceedure on the other side. Simple, but tasts great!
  12. Hi MarshmaniaC My reciept is simple: Catch fish, clean fish, cook fish, eat fish, catch more fish! I will, however, try to come up with something more specific.
  13. Ya Splas, where did you get the molds? Real Nice!
  14. Hey Markell You got mail, check it!

I must have missed something. Why is the Traders Post locked?
  16. What is the technical name for the large transom mount you put outboard motors on? Some people use them when they change from an I/O to an outboard, but in my case I might need to install a 25" shaft outboard instead of the 30" needed for my Grady White. The extra room on each side of the motor would be nice too! Anyway, I can't seem to find any on line and thought maybe if I knew what they were called I would have better luck.
  17. You will have no problem clear coating over powder paint and tape. After you have painted, taped and added the eyes, just coat the spoon or lure with Devcon or envirotex or the clear coating of your choice. The clear coat helps protect the tape and will make the eyes, especially 3D eyes, stay on. Here is a spoon type jig and a spoon using 3D eyes and tape with regular eyes.
  18. I'm sitting here in Mexico Beach, Fl watching it mist rain. We got one nice wind storm (about 15 minutes worth) yesterday and then nothing but light wind and light rain. I'm not complaining understand! I fished up until Saturday evening. Seas were about 4 ft some 7 miles out. Uncomfortable fishing in my 18' Sundance, but did manage to catch 2 small non keeper Groupers and a large Spanish Mackrel (maybe Cero). One of the girls got sick so we came in early. Hope the weather clears in time to go fishing again before the next huricane.
  19. Markell Are you talking about the dark part versus the light part? The dark part of a deer tail doesn't show the dye very much. Mostly what you are using for the color is the white part that is dyed the color you need.
  20. Red, man I've just been sitting back watching you guys roll with this thing! I'm impressed. Every idea you have had is right on the money. Whenever you get someone to do the salt water testing, just let me know. I have stuff ready and waiting. Just tell me where to send it! I will also be glad to help in anyway my meager talents will allow.
  21. O my, the Battle of the Bulge, er, I mean T-shirts has begun!
  22. Hey Red When do you plan to have shirts for us regular sized guys? I need a large.

Recieved my jigs from the jig swap today and man are they great! My hat's off to all who participated in the swap for a job well done and a double portion of thanks to Celticav for putting up with us all and still geting the jigs out. Thanks!
  24. Good idea. I'll go out and get one today and give it a try. Let you all know how it works!
  25. The "squids" I use gome from Ebay auctions. Go to Ebay home, sporting goods, fishing and type in "squids" or "skirts" in the search engine and you will find lots of them.
