  1. I ended up using Elmers glue over the eyes and then painted. The glue easily came off after drying. Thanks guys for your advice. I was repainting Yo-Zuri's Pin's minnows. An awesome lure for me but getting dificult to find and even more dificult to replicate. This lure is quite small and too precise for me to consistantly make.
  2. When repainting lures have difficulty covering or masking the molded eyes to have well defined lines around the eyes when done. Taping does not work well for convex shapes. What techniques or recomendations should I try?
  3. Looks good enough to try. I do not have any avialable locally to disect. I've started my first attempt to make one. Would you think that the "wobbler" end of the lure needs ballast behind the bill or does the lead head do it all? Thanks.
  4. Thanks guys, The pin's minnow will be my first purchase, size is right, and desired action sounds good. Plus they look kool! I may also attempt tow eye adjustment if the lures allows clearance for plier access. Any other lure recomendation would be appreciated. Thanks again.
  5. Hey fellers, I'm trying to find a lure for a specific situation and action. I'm looking for a lure the size of 2.5 inch Pin's Minnow that runs shallow, <2ft with a roll action, very little to no wobble. Presently I'm using Rapalas but would like a thinner profile. I would like some advice before making multiple purchases just to find one, if it exists. Thanks for your input.
  6. Hey Fellers, I cant find ball or any style jig with the Eagle Claw gold fine wire hooks. Used to be you could find them at most stores as they were quite cheap, say a dollar a dozen. Does anyone know where to get them? Im lookin' for 1/8, 1/4, 3/8 ths, about a hundred of each. Thanks.
  7. http://www.riversmallies.com/guestart_cdefronzo12.html This site helped me with my choices, I also compare how the line works on the reel; Twists/tangles, cast. I've tried most of these lines and prefer Gamagatsu co-polymer. I night jig walleyes in rivers primarily, 8lb test,1/8 to 1/4 oz jigs.
  8. Very suprised to see that the "basic" Rapalas are not weighted.

    Heat guns

Thanks guys. I use a small torch for 'degassing' final finish and for bending lexan. Lexan bends but bubbles up - too fine a line between pliable lexan and bubbles. I thought a heat gun would have a more controllable heat span but maybe I should save my money. Also I didn't think about blowing unfiltered air at my wet finish. Thanks for letting me know that its the CO2 that degasses. My breath works, but I get light headed too quickly, he he, so I started using a torch, Thought it was the heat. How do you fellers bend lexan? I'm bending Netcraft bills with the tow tie on the bill. Thanks for the replies, Also I got quite a laugh from the flamethrower, he he.

    Heat guns

I'm lookin for a small quality heatgun - bending lexan, debubbling devcon...you know. What do you fellers use and are happy with?
  11. Thanks guys, I was afraid I was going to have to drill the interior out, keeping everything strait and centered and all. V-blocks and a forstner bit will be in use soon. thanks again.
  12. Hey Fellers, I've been making good lures for quite some time now thanks to lots of advise from many of you's. Lately I've been tinkerin' with making deer calls. I've figured out the soundboard and the reed...sounds great, buck to fawn. But now I need the tube to mount them in. What tools are used to make a wooden tube? I know a lathe will do the outside work, but what about the hollow interior. I would like to use hardwood for this project. Thanks in advance for any advice.

    How to POP

Why won't my poppers pop. I've had much success making diving baits thanks to all you guys. but. I've made 8 really nice poppers that only splash water. The baits are 3" long and about 3/4" wide. some made solid and some hollow. All float horizontal and more than half under water. Woods are pine, cedar and poplar-basswood laminate ( poplar center, basswood sides ) Lemme know how to make noise, Fellas.
