  1. Thanks for the info guys.
  2. Anybody know when they release the new molds for 2009? Also what they are going to release. I heard they had a weighted hook mold like you would use for the Basstrix style swimbaits.
  3. Has anybody ever modified their mold for recessed eyes. It seems like if they could be drilled out then rivets could be put in or something. Could a machine shop do that like Shawn Collins or Del or Bob?
  4. Can 25 and 30 be mixed? I have a half bottle of 25 and full bottle of 30. I'm trying to make a couple of molds and I may not have enough of the full bottle to do both can I use the rest of the 25 if its not enough.
  5. Trying to melt tire weights down quicker than my 4lb Hot pot. Will this work: http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10151&catalogId=10001&langId=-1&partNumber=37331&hvarTarget=search&cmCat=SearchResults If not can anyone recommend something for $50 or so that will work.
  6. What is the average price of a custom mold? Just a ballpark figure. Don need the exact dollar amount. I'm not looking for anything fancy. I just want a football head that accepts heavy duty hooks, preferably with two 3/4 oz and two 1 oz cavities. I have the Do-It mold, but it only accepts light wire hooks and they straighten on me all the time. I tried to modify it, but I get too much flash when I pour and it takes too much time to file and trim the excess.
  7. It's refering to Aaron Martens. The CA based pro bass fisherman. Edit: Whoops, me and Woodsac must have been typing at the same time. I think Woodsac hit everything on the nose.

    3-d Eyes

Thanks. I didn't know they sold stuff on this site. I just thought it was a message board.

    3-d Eyes

Anybody know where to get these 3-d eyes in bigger sizes, like 3/8 or 1/2, for CHEAP? I've seen a couple of local tackle shops that carry small packs of 20 or so in that size for like $3. I don't mind paying $8-9 for 100, but $15 is kinda steep. Thanks for any help Eric
  11. If you don't mind me asking where did you get that bottom grub mold from. That's a pretty cool design. Eric
  12. I got a ton of styles you may be interested in as I fish primarily So Cal Salt, and in any tournament I can get in the LA/OC area. I have a mold to make a 3" AA knock off grub typical Mike Gardner style, a bigger grub, a few different reaper styles, creature styles, and swimbaits (I made molds of 5" fishtraps both styles and 4" big hammer, plus I have a 3" & 4" LC fishtrap molds with the FT's melted out of the tail). Shoot me an email eajohnson1980@yahoo.com maybe we can trade for some jigs or something. I'd like to see other peoples work. Eric
  13. Thanks guys for the responses. Yeah, they are the new stainless pots with the plastic handles. Is there away to clean the plastic out other than with worm softener? I don't have any of that stuff, I pour alot of saltwater baits. Could I use a wire brush on a drill? Looks like I might tear that pot up, pretty thin side walls. Eric
  14. I just bought some hot plates and pots which I got from Lurecraft. I've been heating my plastic in the microwave and then pouring the plastic into the pot and setting it on the burner to keep it hot. My problem is that some of the plastic likes to stick to the pot when I try to remove it after I let it cool. Is there an easy way to get it out or am I doing something wrong? I'm used to the pyrex where it just pulls right out. Thanks Eric
  15. Thanks for the tips again guys. That's an awesome little workbench you got there woodsac. I found some single burners on Amazon for 9.99 each so I ordered 3 of them and I got free shipping and didn't have to pay tax. I also ordered 3 pans from lurecraft since I was placing an order today anyways. I ordered a few of them when I first started about a year ago and remember them being pretty cheesy. I threw them away because I started using a microwave. I'm still on the prowl for better ones, but this should hold me over till I can find some good ones. Eric
  16. Is there a reason to use a cast iron pot as opposed to a regular pot that you would make soup or something in? Eric
  17. Thanks for the reply. This may be another dumb question, but where can I get the 4-ounce aluminum cups or any aluminum cups? Also do these have a handle and pouring spout like pyrex cups? I'm young a still live with my parents so I don't really have any experience with what kind of appliances and household accesories are out there. Eric
  18. Als Worms I have a question. Are you placing your pyrex cups directly on hot plates or are you transferring to a metal pan? It sounded like the cups themselves, but I'm not sure. Also what kind of hot plates are you using? Where can I get some and what do they cost? I hate having to put the cups back in and out of the microwave. Thanks Eric
  19. Thanks for the reply. I'll have to do that. Eric
  20. Is it possible to melt lead in a pot over a propane barbecue? Is the flame hot enough?? A friend just gave me a bucket of tire weights and I wanted to melt them down and make ignots. I don't want to do it 4 lbs at a time in my pot due to extended exposure to the fumes of the dirty lead. Thanks Eric
  21. Thanks for all the replies. Maybe I'm putting too much paint on. I'll try less. As for the toothpick idea I tried that and I got a toothpick that was harder to get out of the eye than the paint was. Eric
  22. I'm having a problem keeping the paint from clogging the eyelet after I stick them into the toaster oven to cure the paint. They're paint free when I put them in and then when I take them out they're clogged with paint. Anyone have a solution??? Thanks Eric
  23. Thanks for the reply Delw. You didn't just get my plastic to me fast you replied fast too. Is that the brand name on that thing and can I get one from Home Depot or Walmart. It's long enough to reach all the way down to the bottom without submerging the drill. Also how do I get out of the bucket with just a clean measuring cup? Thanks Again. I can't wait to try this stuff out. Eric
  24. I ordered a 5 gallon bucket from Dels and was wondering if it was alright to mix it into the gallon containers that my LC plastic was in. The reason I ask is that there is still some plastic stuck on the bottom of the LC container that I can't seem to get off. Will there be some sort of chemical reaction or should I not worry about it. Also what is the best way to mix that much plastic. I don't have any fancy tools and don't want to spend a fortune on anything to fancy. Would it work if I just grabbed it and shook it around for a couple minutes and then immediately poured it into my gallon containers. Thanks, Eric
