  1. You can use plaster for a mold if you are only making a few. The main thing is that it must be thoroughly dry or it will explode when you pour your first one.
  2. it's both the friction and the abrasiveness of the carpeting although you are better served to use a loose cotton buffing wheel and polishing compounds. Either way the edges need to be sanded to 600 grit for a mediocre finish. for better finish finer grits of abrasives should be used.
  3. looks good. If you run into trouble adjusting the tension you may consider adding a spring at one end.
  4. I tried using hook bonnets and gave up on them. In my opinion they contribute to causing your hooks to rust by holding in moisture. Also I've nicked myself a few times trying to remove the bonnets
  5. It's about time you joined the real world Tally.
  6. I use lacquer based colors and spray wet on wet. this allows the overspray to blend better. Here is a few of mine http://www.putfile.com/pic.php?img=3574737
  7. check your local craft or arts suply store.
  8. Cool cure temps will also create a longer cure time leaving a tackiness for upwards of 24 hours.
  9. Tally do not forget his favorite hook brand also where would he be without his trusty EC's
  10. The hand wound screw shaped wires (eyes) have a much larger surface area than machine made screws. When installing these you want a press fit or slightly loose installation so the epoxy has room to do its job. Unlike most adhesives epoxies need gaps and loose fitting joints to achive maximum strength.
  11. another vacuum pump style to use would be a ventri style these work off of compressed air. do you have a drawing or pic of the water aspirator Travis?
  12. When the air is coming out of the wood is it not also bringing the sealer out with it? In my opinion pressure would be better much the same as pressure treating wood decking.
  13. lol Roger, Welcome aboard... do a little searching and you will find a plethora of solutions and ideas. What part of the state are you from?
  14. A small piece of live bait placed on a lure hook. this leaves scent trial behind the bait.
  15. some people breathe on the bubbles. I heat mine with a hot air gun to get a thin even coat that releases most of my bubbles

  19. make a cradle from bondo... made the same fasion as you would for a mold.
  20. It's an etching primer. It "eats" itself into the surface of the plastic thus promoting better adheasion of the top layers. Never confuse mass produced lures with hand made. We had better be taking the time to do the best we can or we are doing the hobby a gross injustice. If you are having paint issues with their lure it's probably due to lack of topcoat or inferior production standards. Have you filed a complaint with the manufacturer? If we don't they will continue to make crap. Most fabricators don't care about high durability, their main concern is increased sales.
  21. just sealed. 1 lure was sealed with black silverware and left as is. I would have thought it was caused by water but neither lure had been fished yet.
  22. Do yourself a favor and get some proprianate. I've tried both cups and silverware had them crack on me nearly a month later.
