I have bee using the fishingskirts.com weedguards in the last 500-600 jigs I have made. I do not pour them in, I use the pin. I powder coat, bake, then glue in the guard. I love the consistency of the solid base. The one main drawback I have found in them, is the memory they have. They do not do a very good job of returning to their normal shape after catching a fish. They get spread out and bent very easily and tend to stay that way. So for me, the jury is still out.
