  1. If you are going to name your company, Lures, Colors and any other products. Please make sure you at least do an internet search before you use those names for your company and or products and services. Come up with your own name, don't use another companies name or name of their products for your own.[Maniac] Is a registered Trade mark for Maniac Custom Lures, for anything fishing or fishing related. That means you can't legally use it as your own. Thanks, James Bradshaw owner of Maniac Custom Lures,LLC
  2. You don't want to use Sand, because it is not clear and will mess up your colors. If you want silica, then you need clear silica glass beads. Yes all of this has been done by others including Maniac Custom Lures. We have our Pro - Sink line of Stick baits 100% artificial by using glass beads.
  3. Check out the Maniac Custom Lures Gizzilla, you just might like it. www.maniaccustomlures.com
  4. Some of the hardware stores have aluminum tubing in the steel rack, usually with the all thread, steel angle etc. Buy the diameter that you want to work with, cut them to the length that you need. Then take them to someone that has a tig welder and weld a piece of flat aluminum on one end. the flat end will give you the extra thick head on the tube. Done deal!!
  5. It's not going to be easy to get perfect laminates with a pie mold. A single runner with the cavities machined off of each side of the runner is much easier to keep the two colors running even. It is about temp, time, preasure and the derometer of the plastic that is used. In some cases, the harder the plastic the hotter you need to run it. but it's also about the configuration of the mold that will give you greater success. I can have a mold machined and shoot these baits for you, if you want?
  6. Heat is also your enemy when it comes to dents in your baits, cut down your heat if possible. If you can hold the preasure longer and less heat, harder plastic. All of these things change the outcome! I have shot a bunch of baits both in a large production injection machine and shot hundreds of baits in prototype molds with a syringe, and those are the first things that I look at when dents show up. 7. The best gold glitter that I have found is from M-F. And I have tried glitter from many sources. If M-F is still using the same supplier then you should do good with their gold, but keep in mind it's still a little touchy! Maniac Custom Lures
  8. Check your thermocouples. The heating element is most likely good, but the bad thermocouple or bad connection on the thermocouple caused your heater to over run.
  9. The M-F cinnamon is exactly what you are looking for! www.maniaccustomlures.com
  10. Not all glitters are created equal. They can react different from color to color, manufacturer to manufacturer. If it curls then try to pour faster and at lower heat. If it bleads then the same applies. If it doesn't work for your process then find another supplier. You will almost always find that when you call a supplier with a problem they will tell you that they have never had any complaints with that product. If they tell you that then they are probably either lying or you are going beyond the limitations of that material that maybe you didn't know of. I personally have received glitter from suppliers that the supplier claims it would take 350 deg, but the reality was that it wouldn't keep from bleeding for fifteen minutes at 320 deg. wich ruined several gallons of plastic on several different times. Sometimes you just have to find what works for you by trial and error. Lure Craft is one company that knows from experience how there products perform. Don't take anyones word on how there product performs, try it for yourself. Just my two cents! James
  11. I have 3" and 4" single tail grubs the 4" inch are actually considered 5" I don't have all of the colors listed on our web site, so if your interested please send a P.M or call. 435-279-9900 I will give you a discount. James
  12. Carolina Mike is right you can make the injected baits just as soft and as good of quality as hand poured baits, He's also right about the fact that it is very hard to make money hand pouring, your labor minutes per part is just too long. I can make six thousand to ten thousand baits per hour on some of my smaller baits and 1500 to 2000 per hour on bigger baits. How many can you hand pour? My partner is a machine design engineer with the capability of drawing your own personal bait design and producing your mold and baits for you at competitive prices. I also personally make every bait that we sell. James
  13. You may want to consider having another company shoot the baits for you, it would be a lot cheaper. I know from experience the costs involved. If you want to talk give me a call. James 435-279-9900
  14. Figure what a distributor price is and you pay 10% of what your distributor price is. It's that simple! James
