  1. The surgery went well. I still have some numbness in my left foot due to the swollen muscles in my back. At first I was really concerned about it because it was worse than before surgery. The first few days at home were terrible with severe muscle spasm's and pain that often made me wonder why I decided to have the surgery. I'm moving around better today and the "knot" in my lower back seems to be gone for the most part. I still hurt occasionally, but that's to be expected. The pain isn't nearly as severe as it was over the weekend. I still have numbness in my foot that comes and goes though, the Doc said that's fairly normal and should all be gone by my 2 week checkup. I'm getting around and walking a little more everyday. Overall things seem to be better and get better everyday. I'm finally able to sit at my desk in my office which I wasn't even able to do a few weeks prior to surgery (I had to use the laptop from the couch or bed!). I'm just ready for it to all be overwith and move on. Doc reminded me that even though I feel fine that I still have a list of do's and dont's for a couple weeks. I've been sitting in this chair for a lil while to long so I'm going to hop off for now, but I'll be back. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers. See ya'll later.
  2. Yupp, till I go under the knife and have my back surgery. So since I won't be around for a few days I figured I would wish everyone a safe and happy Easter Holiday. I'll be back when I can be.... Until then take care.
  3. Rather than create another thread I thought I would ask in here... I saw it in a previous post but can't seem to find the post now, it was talking about cracking in resin molds it also mentioned or someone mentioned the use of matting in the resin molds. If I use resin and decide to layer matting in the mold to help it prevent from cracking or breaking should I do it like this? 1) Glue bait down 2) Pour Resin to cover bait completely 3) Lay matting down gently and let "setup" for a few minutes to an hour and then go back over it with more resin? The reason why I say to let it setup some is if you just throw some matting in there and then immediatley pour right on top of that wont that push or force the matting down into the bait which could mess up the mold when you take everything out? Just curious... I've also noticed from posts on here that most people aren't using matting in thier resin molds. I don't know which way I'll go with it yet, but I figured I would ask about the matting. Thanks!
  4. Best place to start I would think would be a Mercury Marine Dealer, though that certainly won't be the cheapest option...
  5. Ive heard of people using a similar method with thier dremels, haven't heard of to many issues concerning this, but I don't know how electrical saavy those users were to begin with and how they constructed thiers, this was also on another website unrelated to lurecrafting. I have a "Dremel" brand footpedal, I don't know how old it is but it was my dad's and he used it with his dremel. When he passed I got it and his dremel along with his other tools.....To be honest I'd give them all back to have him around one more day! (Sorry for getting sappy, there) Anyways I wish Dremel would bring this item back to market. Even with the MultiSpeed models the foot pedal offers a certain amount of "control" once you get used to using it.
  6. I don't pretend to know the first thing about banjo's, but I like how they sound! Thats a nice looking Banjo! Good work!
  7. I have 2 Trion BC's and 2 Trion Spinning reels. I love the Baitcasters and the spinning reels equally. I have never had any problems with either type before. I've been eyeing a President for a while and after my surgery/recovery may just have to go pick one up. The 2 Trion Spinners I have I use in Saltwater with no problem, I just make sure to rinse them off after each trip like I do with most of my gear. I've fished with some Shimano models which cost considerably more and found the Trion to be on an equal ground with those models at a fraction of the cost.
  8. Thanks Pop! I did as advised found the thread where you were asking about it and whala Fiberglass resin and Polyester resin are basically the same beast! The good news is now that I know that for sure, I don't have to buy any as I have some left over from a boat repair I did in October...just hope I still have the hardner I got to hand it to Jerry his search feature is a breeze to use and REALLY works unlike most forums/websites I'm used to!
  9. I was looking through the user tutorials, and read about the resin molds you can make. Problem is I'm not real sure where to buy the stuff. I went to Lowes and they didn't have any, and I didn't see a spot on the shelf for it either. Same story at Home Depot and the Ace by my house. About the only place I haven't tried was the local boating stores such as West Marine, Boat's US, and Boaters World. Figured I would ask here before I wasted more time and gas trying to find it. I would call but I'll just get someone on the other end who wouldn't know what it is and tell me they have it when they dont! Is there another name for it, or a particular brand I should buy? Thanks for any and all help!
  10. Another option or glue alternative... Go to any decent hobby shop, ask where they're CA or Super Glues are... There you should find multiple "formulas" Thin, Medium, Thick. All of these glues have various cure times ranging from 1 second to 25 seconds. Buy the "thick" formula and a small bottle of accelerator. The super slow curing time of the thick formula will allow you enough time to position your bait and repair area properly even after applying the glue, the thick glue also fills gaps and makes a better repair IMO. You can then hit it with the accelerant and poof its instantly cured and ready to use.
  11. Well I was going to order from Delmart today...but I got sidetracked so I'll get to it on Monday. I've decided to go ahead and order a "Creature kit" with the 4" lizard. I'm seriously thinking about adding some more plastic to my cart from Delmart because LC has some paddletail grub molds that I use for specks, but I didn't find a similair mold on Dels site.
  12. I forgot where this was! LOL Either that or someone moved it on us...lol Sorry Im not all with it today, just got back from my pre-op appt @ the Docs and they gave me a nice shot of something to help with the pain....since the pills werent cutting it. Hey Matt, I PM'd you back did you get it? I don't even begin to understand the patent process and all the laws involved and though I never intend to sell any of my baits I might make this still makes for good reading and applies to us in it for the "hobby". Rockhopper, thanks for your time and info your sharing with all of us! I need to hop over to Dels site and find out how I order what I want. Take Care everyone!
  13. Matt, I'm fairly new here and I know you were talking about copying lures, but this part of your post caught my eye. I'm having trouble with this part of the post. See I'm a photographer and as a photographer all of my work carries copyrights which are MINE and if someone else uses my images without my permission then it is THEFT and it is just as SEVERE as what you mentioned actually worse, as I do register my photo's with the US Copyright office in groups of 25-36 at a time. So I have the legal means and recourse to take action. How can you even begin to say that stealing an image isn't as bad as stealing a bait design? I'm sorry but theft is theft, it doesn't matter to me whether it's a photo, an actual item, a design, drawn idea....there is no distinction between severities of thieves. They are thieves and should be prosecuted to the fullest extent that the law allows! I'm not trying to make any waves here...or call you out by any means. I just want you to think about how that sounds. "Stealing an image is wrong, but not nearly as wrong as copying someone elses bait and selling them"...Well if it's my image and takes money away from me that is rightfully mine then it hurts my wallet. Just as someone stealing your baits and selling thier copies takes money away from you....there is no distinction between the 2. Protect your designs, images, products....it's not always cheap, but it helps. Now copyrighting photos costs alot less than patents and patent research on baits and other products, I know this, but you really afford not to get it done? Matt I looked at your webpage...Man those are some awesome looking baits! Very realisticly in coloring! Good Job!
  14. Man that bites!!!! Ive seen a few mentions of safeguards you can take that have already been brought up...Right click deny is the simplest but there are ways around it. Watermarking and layering the images in Photoshop or similar editing program is a bit more involved and can screw up the display of your pictures if not done properly. There is a good thorough tutorial I found for protecting your images on the net, I can't find it right now but when I find it again I will post the link. One of my biggest hobbies besides fishing is Photography and writting, I write articles for a local outdoors publication on occasion. Stealing someone's images whether you claim them as your own or not is just WRONG and ILLEGAL without written consent by the owner/'s. Most of the time people think they have to register there photo's with the Copyright office before any action can be taken. That is true in alot of cases but not all...The tutorial also goes to explain this as well and tells you what type of action you can and can't take. Like I said when I find the URL again I'll post the link I know it was in one of my recent photography magazines. Either way I think you need to email the link to your page and the offending persons link to the Mods and let them take care of him concerning this board! Just my .02...
  15. Thanks guys. About the respirator I have a good 3 or 4 stage (cant remember) that takes cartidge filters and fit's over my nose and mouth. It's comfortable which is important because I use it alot. I didn't mention it in this post but did in the hardbait forum. I'm hoping to get a list made up and place an order this weekend. I found one of the tutorials about making molds lastnight after I had posted this.
