  1. I tie mostly 3 - 5oz bucktail jigs used for bottom fishing in saltwater. Have used an el-cheapo vise for 4 years and its almost gone to the grave . Been looking for a reasonable vise that will accomodate 8/0 down to maybe 4/0 hooks. Mustad #91715 8/0 is the hook I use most. I would appreciate any help I can get. Not spending 300.00 on a vise, but don't care to spend 200.00 or less on a rotary model. Thanks T-Ball

    Long Bucktail

Just got some really nice tails from Barlow's. Some have hair that is easily 6 inches long. www.barlowstackle.com give them a look. T-Ball
  3. WOW !!! That is awesome. T-Ball
  4. I have had the same problem in the past. Had some old spools of spiderwire laying around with 10 to 40 yds left, tied a couple jigs with it and now its all i use. Can tie pretty tight, then add a drop of water proof glue and it will last. Hope this helps ! T-Ball
  5. Thats new ! I saw a show with Woo Daves a few years ago and he showed how he uses rubber bands and does the same thing. twist ties , who would have thunk it ! cool idea.. t-ball
  6. Thanks for the comments guys. I will be brushing it on. I use the acid brushes with devcon, and will probably try the same with the DN. I'm not brave enought to spray it, don't want to mess up my airbrush. Thanks Again, I'm gonna order some and try it. T-Ball
  7. After reading alot of positive comments on DN's clear coat I have 2 questions. 1) Is the Clear top-coat what you fellows are using, and 2) I noticed it comes in quarts. Do I mix this with hardener or use directly from the can.( Note: if it is used directly from can, what keeps it from drying and being opened numerous times? ) Have always used Dev 2-t with very little problems, but some of the cranks I've seen with DN I like a little better. Thanks for the help guys ! T-Ball

    Jig Tying

Like stated above you can tie silicon. I tie all my jigs, but I don't use the tying thread. A couple of years ago I had about 10 spools of briad that had 10-20 yds left on them. I tied a couple of big jigs with a piece of spiderwire and it works awesome. You can cut the silicon as well as rubber with the braid, but you can get a great knot that don't need any glue added. Takes a few to see how tight you can tie them, but it works great
  9. Does anyone know how I can remove the black dots on some Strike King red-eyed shads ? I want to use the solid white baits and add my " special touches " but I don't want the black dot and really don't want paint the entire bait. I have tried paint thinner and acetone but neither would work. Haven't tried nail polish remover yet, just thought I would ask here. Any help I would really appreciate it ! Thanks in Advance ! T-Ball
  10. nice, i like those colors,
  11. pic is on page 114, not 112. Sorry guys ! T-Ball
  12. There's a pic of the bait on page 112 in Bassmaster Mag. You can't see the colors on the cover pic, but can tell its a mann's. That vid was awesome ! You can see the Mann's crank on two diff fish catches, in the mag he said he used the 20+ and hot lips, along with the big jelly worm. Thanks for putting that vid up, its good to see diff sides of these guys. T-Ball
  13. I have been using some old spools of spiderwire and it has worked out really well. T-Ball
  14. Call Barlow's Tackle. I just got my mold and its perfect. It's a do-it mold. It uses FG-30 weedguards, and a 60 deg mustad hook. Its on their website. It gives you the hook # as well. Hope this helps you, T-Ball

    Deep Cranks ?

Does anybody on here make crankbaits that will run around 20- 25 feet ? I have a great need for these and am thinking about trying my hand at production. I've only painted cranks , never made one from scratch. I'd appreciate any help or ideas ! Thank You ! T-Ball
  16. Does anybody have any old 30+'s they're not throwing. I'm looking for some to repaint. Give me a yell and we'll work a deal ! T-Ball
  17. Jim, if anybody can get em' for you, this fellow can. Call Angler's Paradise in whiteall, PA. The number is 1-877-702-2500. He got me some watermelon shad SK's in every size. great service ! Hope this helps you ! T-Ball
  18. I got the Eclipse cs, gravity feed for X-Mas and it's awesome !!! My other guns are retired for good. The gravity feed is the way to go. It has a cap that keeps everything neat. It holds alot of paint and cleanup is easy. I got mine from www.airbrushdepot.com. The brush by itself is around 105.00. You will never use another brush after you use an Iwata !!!! T-Ball
  19. My problem is not run-off, I think. When I apply my devcon I am getting it on my bills. The clear I'm ok with it, but when there's glitter in the devcon, my lip has glittered clear-coat half way down the bill. One question, If I have masking tape on my bill when I am clearcoating, will it come off after the devcon is dry? I don't think it will is why I haven't tried it. Or, do I leave on the tape, clear coat my bait, them remove the tape before I put it on my dryer? My dryer is pretty awesome. My buddy is an electrician in a coal mines and set me up pretty good. I can spin 80 jig heads or 40 cranks at one time. It runs 5.7 mph. Thats with a police radar gun, so who knows how close it is. My dryer is not my problem. It's more than likely ME . Thanks for the help !! T-Ball
  20. What kind of process do you fellows use to keep Devcon off your bills while turning? I brush it on, try to wipe all the excess off the bill, the put on the wheel. I'm still getting some run on my bills. I'm not putting it on real thick. Maybe there ok, but I don't want any on there. Any ideas ? Thanks, T-Ball
  21. that's a good idea there Dean ! Haven't thought of that. Thanks for sharing. I have several rolls of several colors in my shop. I'll try it out ! T-Ball
  22. I had the same problem when I started out. Someone sent me an e-mail and helped me, so I'll pass this along. First off, go buy the cheapest set of drill bits you can find. Get the 1/16 thru 1/2 set. Put a dab of paint on something, I use storage box dividers, since I have a million of them, Dip your drill bit, ( NOT THE SHARP END) and it's a perfect circle every time. I bought me some 1/2 wooden dowels and put the sizes I use in them. It gives you a little handle. Cut the dowel about 3 inches long, drill a small hole in the center, put whatever size drill you want for your eyes, dab some devcon on the small hole, drill you drill bit about 1 inch into the dowel and leave it. Remove the drill bit and dowel from your drill then do the next size. Hope this helps you. I got this idea from this board. There's pictures on here somewhere. Check them out. T-Ball
  23. I use an Iwata eclipse CS and it is awesome !! It will do from a hairline to 2" spray. It is a gravity feed, and i think that is the way to go. Some Iwata'a are pretty expensive, but this gun runs around 105.00 at airbrush depot. I think Iwata's are the best out there. All my buddies that have body shops got me on these, and I have no reason to switch. My 2 cents, T-Ball
